Withdrawal

If you wish to discontinue enrollment after paying fees:

You must contact the Registrar's Office at registrar@law.uci.edu for assistance with withdrawing from the law school.

Do not drop all of your courses via LawReg. Your classes will be dropped for you automatically during the withdrawal process.

Do not stop payment on the check used to pay registration fees instead of speaking with the Registrar's Office about withdrawing.

Before You File for Withdrawal

Understand that you must apply for readmission if you would like to return to UC Irvine Law School after withdrawing for one or more semesters. Go to the Readmission page or contact the Assistant Dean for Student Services for additional information.

Refunds

The Student Health Insurance fees are refundable only when the withdrawal form is submitted prior to the first day of the semester. Generally, this is prior to the first day of instruction. If you withdraw beginning the first day of a semester or thereafter, you will remain covered under the Student Health Insurance Plan for the remainder of the semester.

Late service charges are nonrefundable.

New Law Students

Through the first day of instruction, tuition is refunded in full, except for the Student Health Insurance fees as indicated above and a $10 service charge. On the second day of instruction and after, the Schedule of Refunds is applied to the balance of tuition paid.

Continuing Law Students

Through the first day of instruction, tuition is refunded in full, except for the Student Health Insurance fees as indicated above and a $10 service charge. On the second day of instruction and after, the Schedule of Refunds is applied to the balance of tuition paid.

For students on Financial Aid, federal regulations require students to maintain full-time enrollment throughout the stated loan period. If students have any interruptions or withdraw during the stated loan period, their funds will be returned to the lender and any remaining portion of the loan will be cancelled. Student fee refunds follow the schedule above but the appropriate refund is returned directly to the source of the withdrawing student’s Financial Aid. Any Financial Aid disbursed to the student to cover living expenses will also be affected by a withdrawal. Please contact the Law School Financial Aid Office.

Deadlines that fall on a weekend will be processed the following work day.

Part or the entire refund amount will be applied to any financial obligations you may owe to the University, such as financial aid, student loans, library fines, etc.

See the section on Fee Refunds in the UCI General Catalogue for more information.

How Your Withdrawal Will Be Recorded on Your Transcript

If your withdrawal form is submitted prior to the beginning of the semester, no record will appear on your transcript for that semester.

If your withdrawal form is submitted prior to finals, no notation will appear on your transcript. Once finals start, a withdrawal notice will appear on a transcript.
