The Graduate Tax Program Merit Scholarship
The Graduate Tax Merit Scholarship—of up to 50% of total the tuition costs—may be offered to admitted applicants who can demonstrate excellence in their past tax work, exceptional potential for future success in the tax profession, and the prospect of becoming a successful, collegial member of the UCI Law community.
Each admitted Graduate Tax Program applicant is automatically considered for the Graduate Tax Program Merit Scholarship. Those who have completed their applications to the Graduate Tax Program by January 15 will receive favorable consideration.
Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) Scholarship Program
Beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year, the UC Irvine School of Law Graduate Tax Program will offer a $20,000 tuition scholarship to admitted students who have volunteered or worked with a Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC).
To qualify for the scholarship, the admitted student must have volunteered with a Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic for at least 125 hours during law school or must have been employed at a Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic for at least six months. If you completed voluntary work for low-income taxpayers but did not necessarily work in a low income taxpayer clinic, you can still qualify for this scholarship. Please provide an explanation on the application with the description of your work and relevant contact information of the person that oversaw this work.
Please fill out the Low-income Taxpayer Clinic Scholarship application. The Executive Director of the Graduate Tax Program will provide an update regarding the scholarship upon admission to the Graduate Tax Program. If you have any questions about this scholarship program, please contact Executive Director, Natascha Fastabend at nfastabend@law.uci.edu.
The $20,000 scholarship is disbursed at $10,000 per semester for a full time graduate tax student. If you are a part time student or are eligible to complete your degree within one full time semester, please contact the Executive Director, Natascha Fastabend nfastabend@law.uci.edu.
