Law Library

What can UCI Law Alumni do after graduation?

  • Access the Law Library. After August 1 your keycard will be deactivated - use the phone in the 2nd floor lobby to contact Law Library staff during open hours for access. Be prepared to present a photo ID.
  • Check out Law Library books. Graduates can check out and renew library books until August 1 of your graduation year. After August 1, UCI Law alumni are eligible for a complimentary Law Library card (request one from Front Desk staff). This complimentary card allows check out of circulating Law Library materials. For checkout privileges at other UCI Libraries after August 1, contact Langson Library.
  • Access Law Library databases. Library databases can be accessed remotely using the VPN until August 1 of your graduation year. Contact Law IT if you have issues with VPN access before August 1. Once VPN access is discontinued, UCI Law alumni must come to the Law Library to access these databases.
  • Get reference assistance. Law Librarians are available to provide reference assistance in person, by phone at (949) 824-6746, or by email. Librarians are available during open Reference Desk hours.
  • Use all computer terminals and scanners in the Law Library.
  • Print with WEPA. Be aware that you must reset your UCINetID password annually. Failure to reset the password on an annual basis will deactivate your UCINetID. Contact Law IT for questions about your UCINetID. Alumni can also print to the WEPA printers by registering for a new personal WEPA account and loading funds on this new account.
  • Access the campus GUEST wifi network. See OIT’s page for more information.

Bloomberg Law, CEB, Lexis, & Westlaw

Although policies change from year to year, past alumni have maintained full access to these legal research sites for a period of time after graduation. Alumni doing ongoing research for law faculty can ask for extended use from vendor representatives.

  • Bloomberg Law. Check www.bloomberglaw.com to determine access after graduation.  Recent graduates who did not receive a Bloomberg Law username and password while enrolled in school can request access at www.bloomberglaw.com/activate. No activation code is required. Alumni must use their law school email (@lawnet) to receive access.
  • CEB Pro. Receive 18 months of free access to CEB Pro. Recent graduates who did not sign up for a CEB Pro account can contact refdesk@law.uci.edu to request retroactive access for up to 18 months from your graduation date.
CEB OnLaw is available at any public computer in the UCI Library system. This version is limited to secondary sources like practice guides, action guides, and attorney-drafted forms.
  • Lexis. Check www.lexisnexis.com/grad-access to determine access after graduation and to learn how to participate in the ASPIRE program.
A basic, non-password version of Lexis is available in the Law Library at the public computers. This version has fewer secondary resources, only allows for limited legal research, and has no career-related sources.
  • Westlaw. Check www.lawschool.westlaw.com to determine access after graduation. If no extension is requested, access has usually ended on the last day of the graduating month (May for spring and December for winter).
A basic, non-password version of Westlaw is available in the Law Library at the public computers. This version has fewer secondary resources, only allows for limited legal research, and has no career-related sources.
