Legal Professional Pathways Program

The UCI Law Legal Professional Pathways Program recognizes students for their academic excellence, professional achievements, exceptional life experiences, and their leadership potential in the legal profession. The Legal Professional Pathways Program pairs talented newly admitted UCI Law students with participating organizations that provide summer employment at the end of the first year of law school. Participating students also benefit from mentorship and outreach throughout their 1L year. This innovative program introduces students to leaders in the legal community while also providing organizations with early ties to a promising and diverse group of future lawyers.

Selection and Participation

Our participating partners represent employers in a variety of public interest organizations. Participation in the program and employment recommendations are made in consultation with the law school faculty and admissions professionals, considering the student’s expressed interests and relevant background. All employment offers and acceptances are made before the start of the fall semester.

Students spend approximately eight weeks in the summer following their first year of law school, working in a legal setting matching their interests and expertise. Participating organizations decide the salary individually. Nonprofit organizations must at least match the UCI Law public interest stipend of $5,000 for first-year students.
