Media Advisory: Floyd Abrams to Present UCI Law’s Annual Pryke Lecture
WHAT: Floyd Abrams, one of the leading First Amendment lawyers in the country, will deliver this year’s Raymond Pryke First Amendment Law Lecture at UC Irvine School of Law. The lecture will be livestreamed, and a video recording will be available following the event.
WHO: Abrams is a partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and litigation practice group. He has a national trial and appellate practice and extensive experience in high-visibility matters, often involving First Amendment, securities litigation, intellectual property, public policy and regulatory issues. Most recently, he prevailed in his argument before the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of Senator Mitch McConnell as amicus curiae, defending the rights of corporations and unions to speak publicly about politics and elections in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. Abrams’ clients have included The McGraw-Hill Companies in a large number of litigations around the country involving claims against its subsidiary; Standard & Poor’s Financial Services LLC; and The New York Times in the Pentagon Papers case.

His deep interest in protecting First Amendment rights led to his endowment of the Raymond Pryke Chair in First Amendment Law and the Pryke Lecture at UCI Law.
