UCI Law Professor of Law Mehrsa Baradaran to Testify Before US House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services

Leading expert on banking law, UCI Law Professor of Law Mehrsa Baradaran will testify, remotely, before the United States House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services on Thursday, June 11 at 12:00 p.m. The Task Force on Financial Technology is holding the virtual hearing entitled, “Inclusive Banking During a Pandemic: Using FedAccounts and Digital Tools to Improve Delivery of Stimulus Payments,” in which Prof. Baradaran will testify alongside The Honorable Chris Giancarlo, Senior Counsel, Willkie Farr & Gallagher and former Chairman, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission; Jodie Kelley, CEO of Electronic Transactions Association; and Morgan Rocks, Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University Law School.

The Committee on Financial Services is taking into consideration Prof. Baradaran’s idea on postal banking. Prof. Baradaran writes about banking law, financial inclusion, inequality, and the racial wealth gap. Her scholarship includes the books “How the Other Half Banks,” and “The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap.”
