The University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law) is delighted to announce that rising 2L, Millie Hobaish, has been selected for a prestigious 2022 Rural Summer Legal Corps Fellowship.

Each summer, Equal Justice Works partners with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) to support law students in serving rural communities across the United States and its territories. Fellows spend eight to ten weeks during the summer providing direct legal services and building capacity at the organizations where they serve.

Millie is hosted by DNA-People’s Legal Services, where she works alongside and under the supervision of licensed attorneys and tribal advocates to provide outreach, community legal education, and a full spectrum of legal assistance to clients residing on or near the Navajo Nation reservation in San Juan County, New Mexico.

“Through the Rural Summer Legal Corps, Millie will have the opportunity to explore a career in public interest law while gaining a deeper understanding of the unique legal issues that affect residents in Navajo communities,” said Brooke Meckler, director of law school engagement and advocacy at Equal Justice Works. “We look forward to seeing the impact of her work at DNA-People’s Legal Services.”
