Prof. Baradaran Testifies Before Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs

Professor of Law Mehrsa Baradaran testified before the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs hearing on “Examining Regulatory Frameworks for Digital Currencies and Blockchain” on Tuesday, July 30. Prof. Baradaran is an expert in banking law, contracts, property, housing and inequality. She discussed issues of equity and accessibility in banking, and the regulation of digital currencies and blockchain technology.

"If our securities, our commodities or our banking laws have become outdated or unnecessary, or if congress believes that they are too cumbersome, then they should be repealed or changed for all applicable parties, not just newcomers," Prof. Baradaran said. "Technology and innovation cannot undermine public policy."
