Robert Solomon, students prepare to sue state

May 14, 2012

Prof. Solomon and his students in the Community and Economic Development Clinic are preparing documents for a potential lawsuit against the State of California's Department of Finance. The suit would be filed on behalf of small business owners in Santa Ana trying to keep the state from seizing millions of dollars of city money slated for improvements in the South Main Street area. The Santa Ana Merchants Association became the first client of the Clinic co-directed by Prof. Solomon and Prof. Carrie Hempel after one of the members learned about Prof. Solomon's long history of legal assistance to community organizations, and called UCI Law seeking his assistance.
