David Kaye organizes workshop on international justice

December 20, 2013

Prof. Kaye recently convened a two-day workshop that drew 30 diplomats, activists and academics from across the globe to Orange County to tackle the weighty issue of international justice. Specifically, Prof. Kaye brought the group together to discuss concrete ways to improve United Nations Security Council support of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Kaye launched this effort a year ago while at UCLA School of Law, collaborating with Humanity United and UCLA's Burkle Center for International Relations. Students in his International Justice Clinic at UCLA interviewed diplomats and activists in New York and other countries. The intense discussion and debate at the workshop culminated the research; now Kaye and his collaborators will compile a report and recommendations to present to the United Nations in the spring. Students in Kaye's new International Justice Clinic here at UCI Law will assist in this final phase.
