Prof. Arewa has been busy visiting Africa to educate lawyers in an emerging market and help artists protect their creations. In January, she traveled to Zambia to train lawyers to deal with the emerging economy there as part of the Law Association of Zambia, which has launched a new initiative for continuing legal education for lawyers there. Prof. Arewa concentrated on issues concerning private equity and venture capital. She also traveled to Nigeria in February and March to work on a copyright reform project and met with various copyright stakeholders and constituencies as part of an ongoing process of copyright reform in Nigeria. She served as vice chair of an expert working group that helped facilitate new ideas and establish a framework to support and reward creators.
