David N. Finley

Background:

David Finley is the founder and principal research attorney at Esquire One Research Services, a Southern California law firm that provides trial and appellate research and drafting services to other lawyers and law firms throughout the state. He has also written more than two dozen legal practice guides published by Thomson Reuters, West Publishing, and The Rutter Group, including prominent leading works on motion practice such as California Motions in Limine, Federal Summary Judgment, and California Law & Motion Authorities for Civil Cases. He previously worked as a litigation attorney and drafting specialist at the Orange County office of Spray, Gould & Bowers.

He received his Juris Doctor degree from University of California, San Francisco College of the Law (formerly Hastings College of the Law), where he was a teaching fellow, a "Best Brief" award winner, and a member of the Moot Court Honors Board. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in Business Administration - Finance from California State University at Long Beach and a Marketing Strategy Certificate from Cornell University's Johnson School of Management. He previously taught Legal Research and Writing and California Motion Drafting and Procedures for a decade at Chapman University School of Law and joined UCI School of Law as a lecturer in 2018. He is a member of the California Bar and previously served as a Section and Committee Chair for the Institutional Advancement Section of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).
