About the Conference

The UC Public Service Law Conference is possible due to the generosity of the University of California Office of the President, which provides funding not just for this event, but to support law students and graduates pursuing their passion for providing justice for all.  UC-trained attorneys prove every day that the law is a powerful vehicle for social change, defense of personal rights, and a protector for underserved causes.

UC President, Janet Napolitano has noted, “Lawyers who serve the public interest can use the power of the law to promote positive change and strengthen our democracy, and we believe training the next generation of public service lawyers is now more important than ever. We hope to bring together a wide array of students, academics, and professionals and to inspire current law students and young lawyers to become leaders in advancing vital civic causes.”

As University of California law students and graduates strive to seek justice through education and hands-on experience, this conference shall serve as a platform to better understand opportunities to provide justice and defend rights to some of the most vulnerable communities locally, statewide, nationally, and even globally.  We welcome law students and graduates of UC Berkeley School of Law, UC Davis School of Law, UCLA School of Law, and UC Irvine School of Law as well as law school faculty, attorneys, and nonprofit professionals committed to advancing civil rights and the public good.
