Senator Kevin Ranker was first elected to the Washington State Senate in 2008 and was reelected in 2012 and 2016. Senator Ranker was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee and serves on the Energy, Environment and Technology Committee and Ways and Means Committee.

In 2010 Senator Ranker received a White House appointment as an Advisor to President Obama’s National Ocean Council serving as Co-Chair of that body in the final year of the Administration. Representing the beautiful northern Puget Sound including San Juan County and portions of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, he is an avid surfer, fisherman, sailor and runner. He lives with his wife and daughter on Orcas Island while his son proudly serves in the U.S. Army.
