UCI Law students to assist veterans with appeals

Nov. 10, 2014

Beginning in spring semester 2015, UCI Law students will handle cases for pro se Veterans seeking relief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. The project will be coordinated by Bree Oswald ’16, and supervised by Sean Twomey of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

UCI Law students will handle these cases through appeal, including briefing legal issues for the Court.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, established under Article I of the Constitution, sits in Washington, D.C. and has exclusive jurisdiction over Veterans’ appeals from the Board of Veterans Appeals. The Court’s composition gives UCI Law students a unique perspective into the appeals process.

The Veterans Appeals project reflects UCI Law's continuing commitment to Veterans. We are proud of all of our Veteran-focused pro bono projects which are primarily done with the Public Law Center.
