Media Advisory: Connie Rice to Deliver First Annual Al Meyerhoff Lecture Oct. 14

WHAT: The UC Irvine School of Law Al Meyerhoff Public Interest Lecture Series launches with noted civil rights attorney Connie Rice speaking on "2010 A Freedom Odyssey: Achieving King’s Mandate for ‘Radical Reconstruction of Society’ Through Law."

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, 4:30 p.m., with reception to follow.

WHERE: UC Irvine Student Center. Parking $8 in the Student Center Structure across the street.

WHO: Connie Rice, an outspoken litigator and co-founder of the public policy and legal action group Advancement Project, has very clear views on equal rights and our democracy. She has spent her career fighting for social justice, urban peace, equal opportunity and upward mobility for the poor and disadvantaged, or as Rice and her colleagues call them, "those left behind in America."

Al Meyerhoff was a noted environmental and civil rights lawyer, in whose memory the lecture series was endowed.
