Assistant Dean for Communications
Colleen Taricani is responsible for strategic communications, media relations and public relations for University of California, Irvine School of Law. Prior to joining UC Irvine School of Law, Taricani was a media relations and communications manager for Latham & Watkins, a global law firm. In that capacity, she directed the firm’s worldwide media relations and strategic communications to develop and implement brand identity. Taricani also worked as a journalist producing financial news television shows for CNBC and CNN in New York. Taricani practiced law in Orange County and received her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
Public Relations Manager
Rizza Barnes’ communications background includes 12 years in university public relations and marketing. She has served as director of publications at the USC Gould School of Law and as communications director for both the Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences and the Graduate Division at UCI. Previously she was a communications and marketing specialist at an education nonprofit and for a global information technology firm. She began her career as a journalist, writing for the Los Angeles Daily News and later editing for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. She is a graduate of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
Digital Communications Manager
Iris Yokoi is a 20-year veteran reporter and editor of various Southern California newspapers, including the Orange County Register, Long Beach Press-Telegram and Los Angeles Times. Highlights of those years include reporting on the rebuilding efforts in central Los Angeles after the 1992 riots; directing coverage of the dynamic Vietnamese-American community of Orange County; and leading the launch and development of an entertainment/lifestyle web site, SqueezeOC.com. The Southern California native is a graduate of Pepperdine University.
Crissandra Flores has a background in events planning in many different contexts. Prior to coming to UCI Law, she was at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego, where she was responsible for arranging corporate and private events of all types and sizes, including for universities. She received her B.A. in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University.
