ASP 1Ls Skills Development Workshops: The video Where to Find & How to Use Study Aids & Supplements is available on your ASP Class of 2029 Canvas page. In just around 27 minutes, we explain:

The most common types of study aids & supplements that law students use and what they're good for (beginning at 02:50);
How to wisely use study aids & supplements (beginning at 20:35); and
Where you can find free study aids & supplements at UCI Law. (beginning at 25:10)

As a UCI Law student, you have FREE access to hundreds of study aids or supplements through the UCI Law Library. Don’t let these awesome resources go to waste!

Mock Trial Program: September 9, 6:00 pm, EDU 1121: Join the UCI Law Mock Trial program for our third weekly meeting - Cross Examinations! Come join us for a chance to learn and practice the techniques behind examining opposing witnesses. These meetings are the perfect opportunity to prepare for the intramural and for trial team auditions, which are happening the week of September 14. All are welcome! Email lawmocktrial@lawnet.uci.edu with any questions.

Mock Trial External Team Auditions: We will be holding auditions for our external team to compete against other schools around the nation! They will be held the week of September 14th. All 2Ls and 3Ls should be eligible to compete. We do not require any prior Mock Trial experience and encourage everyone interested in competing to audition. The tournaments we are auditioning for are SDDL in San Diego from November 5 - 8 and potentially Nationals in Spring in late February/early March. Please fill out this form by this Monday September 7th if interested.

Law Review Notes & Comments Info Session + Student Notes Panel: September 8, 12:00pm–1:00pm, EDU 1111. The UC Irvine Law Review will be hosting an Info Session + Student Notes Panel. The session will provide an overview of the Notes & Comments process and what it is like to write and publish a student Note, followed by a panel with current student authors. The event is for 2Ls and 3Ls, though 1Ls may attend. Lunch will be provided for 2Ls and 3Ls who RSVP in advance. Students can RSVP through the CampusGroups event or RSVP here. The RSVP deadline is September 5, EOD.

Law Review Notes & Comments Submission Window: The Volume 17 Notes & Comments submission window is currently open and will remain open through October 20, 2026. Students interested in submitting a Note should review the submission information and submit their materials by the deadline.

J. Reuben Clark Law Society of Orange County Annual Dinner: September 25, 6:00pm: The J. Reuben Clark Law Society of Orange County cordially invites students to attend its annual dinner. Bonnie H. Cardon, former president of Southern Virginia University and former general officer of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will deliver the keynote. Cal Lawyer Student Contribution Opportunity: Cal Lawyer (a site built for law students and early-career attorneys) is looking for student writers who might want to contribute. Contact Dr. J if you are interested.

ACCFSL 2027 Writing Competition: The American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers is pleased to announce its 2027 annual writing competition to recognize significant written contributions to the field of U.S. consumer financial services law. Click here for instructions and guidelines. The deadline for submission is November 1, 2026.

Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) 2027 Law Program: May 28 - June 11. FASPE is now accepting applications for their two-week fellowship program that will examine the actions and choices of German lawyers in enabling Nazi politics. Program is fully funded and will take place in Germany and Poland. Review FASPE website for application requirements and process. Apply for fellowship by January 3, 2027.

2Ls & 3Ls: Summer 2026 Student Employment Survey: Please complete this quick survey on your job experience by September 18.

Military Spouse J.D Network (MSJDN) Membership: The MSJDN is a national bar association supporting military spouses in the legal profession through advocacy, mentorship, career tools, and a strong peer network. Student membership allows access to job board, volunteer opportunities, and annual career conference. Review MSJDN website for additional information regarding membership and programs offered.

OC ABOTA (Orange County American Board of Trial Advocates) Masters in Trial: September 19, 8:30am - 5:00pm at UC Irvine. Learn trial presentation from opening to closing from Orange County's best trial lawyers. COMPLIMENTARY registration provided to UC Irvine Law Students. You must RSVP in advance to Leslie Dods at Events@law.uci.edu by 9/11/26 to register for this event. We are unable to accommodate walk-in guests. More details will be provided to those who register. Federal Bar Association Annual IP Seminar: IP Enforcement: September 30, 5:00pm - 7:30pm, UCI Law: There will be a reception for registrants, UCI alumni and students followed by a panel discussion.

Law and Justice Workshop Series: 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Law 3750: Our Justice as Lens initiative launched in 2025 with a series of community conversations that sparked engaged, wide-ranging discussions about the intersection of justice and law. The Law & Justice Workshop Series builds on that momentum with convenings that provide a chance to dig into justice-infused topics and critical perspectives through the lens of first-year courses, alongside the faculty who teach them.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Campus Resources: Law students can benefit from services at the Law School and on Main Campus. On our Campus Resources webpage you will find a variety of resources that we encourage you to take advantage of. Dr. J is our liaison to each of these offices, so please be in touch with her if you need any additional assistance!

On-site Counseling: The Counseling Center has a law school satellite office located in MPAA 210F, where Dr. Diana Chan will provide short-term therapy to help you address your concerns. Therapy is provided virtually and in-person during the academic year. Common concerns include relationship issues, academic concerns, trouble adjusting to law school, anxiety, depression, etc. You can schedule an appointment with Dr. Chan by calling (949) 824-6457. Please specify that you would like to see Dr. Chan at the law school.

Know Your Rights: Refer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210). The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
