Announcements and Deadlines

Final Exam Details Available on MyCourses: Details regarding the times and locations are now available. If you have any exam conflicts in accordance with the exam rules listed in Deryn O'Brien's email on April 5th, please contact the Registrar's Office by Wednesday, April 12th at noon.

Changes to Law Library 24/7 space: During Spring Reading and Exam periods (April 20 – May 5), after hours library access will be available on the 2nd floor instead of the California Room. Law Students must present their UCI ID to remain on the 2nd floor after hours. Speak to Law Library staff for more information.

Jessup International Law Moot Court TeamApply and join the world's largest moot court competition and compete against other law schools. Four new team members will be selected. Application deadline is May 29th.

Publish Your Student Note: The UCI Law Review is soliciting student notes and comments on any topic for an upcoming issue. Please review the content guidelines and send your submission to lawreview.articles@lawnet.uci.edu by Friday, May 12th.

3Ls: ABA 3L WeekFrom April 17th to April 23rd, ABA will be celebrating 3Ls and their accomplishments as they reach the end of their law school journey with a series of live and recorded webinars and resources that aim to prepare them for the bar exam, the job search, and life after law school. 3Ls who sign up for their first pre-bar lawyer membership during 3L week will receive a free bar prep care package and have the chance to winning one of several gift cards up to $500, as well as one grand prize drawing of a travel package to attend the ABA Annual Meeting on August 2nd-8th in Denver, Colorado. Student Lockers: This is a friendly reminder that lockers on floors 3rd and 4th of MPAA must be vacated by Friday, May 12th. Lockers are used for Summer programs so all personal belongings and locks must be removed. You will not be assigned the same locker when you return in August. Locks will be cut off and contents will be disposed of after May 12th. If you have any questions or cannot remember your lock combination, please contact Debbie Mondares.

Pro Bono & Student Life Awards: Please join us to celebrate all of the accomplishments of our students, faculty and staff! Anna Davis will announce pro bono honors and present Pro bono awards. We will also announce the results of the student-nominated and student-voted SBA Awards. This award ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at 5:00pm at the Student Center (Emerald Bay). RSVP to attend!

UCI Law in NYC Introductory Meeting: If you plan to be in New York this summer and would like to participate in this program, or if you would like to learn more about professional opportunities in New York more generally, please join us on Tuesday April 18th at 5:30pm to 6:30pm for this introductory meeting, hosted by Professor Joshua Blank. Public Interest Summer Internship Primer: Join Equal Justice Works virtually for a three-day public interest primer on May 31st to June 2nd that is designed to help students prepare for their summer legal internships. Register to attend.

Grand Re-opening: UCI Basic Needs Center: Students are invited to their new location (800 West Peltason Drive) on Tuesday, April 11th from 11:00am to 1:00pm! There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, an Open House to showcase the services that they offer, a DJ, a photobooth and a free packaged meal for the first 500 attendees. RVSP to attend!

The Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition (PDST) Town Hall for Students: Please join us on Friday, April 14th at noon in EDU 1131 to discuss PDST and answer any questions that you may have. Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP by April 11th!

Chancellor's Professors of Law: Professor Alejandro Camacho and Professor Rachel Moran: Dean Parrish invites you to join us on Monday, April 17th at 4:30pm at the UCI ANTrepreneur Center to celebrate Professor Camacho and Professor Moran and recognize their respective appointments as Chancellor's Professors of Law. Reception will follow. Please register by April 10th to attend.

3Ls: Mandatory Exit Career Counseling: Please schedule your appointment with your CDO counselor in LEO between now and April 21st to discuss your next steps and how CDO can support you in your individual job search. If you already secured post-graduate employment, you may opt out by completing this survey by April 21st. More information can be found in Dean Deol's email on March 24th. 

Post-graduation Clerkship Panel: 3Ls who have secured post-graduation clerkships will be hosting a student-led panel on Monday, April 17th at 12:15pm to 1:00pm (Location TBD). Pizza will be provided for those who RSVP by Friday, April 14th at noon

1Ls: Save the Date - Enrollment and Graduation Workshop: Join the Student Services Office for this virtual workshop on Tuesday, April 18th at noon to learn more about upper-division registration process, the required steps for graduation, as well as any questions that arise regarding your upcoming 2L year. Zoom link will be provided soon!  

3Ls: National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutor's Association's Mock Interviews: NAPIPA will be conducting mock interviews on April 13th and April 14th via zoom. Students who are interested in getting a better understanding from the perspective of a Prosecutor's Office can email the Secretary of the Norcal Chapter of the NAPIPA, Sam Nong.

Energy Bar Association (EBA) - Free Membership: The EBA is an international, non-profit association of attorneys, energy professionals, and students active in all areas of energy law. Davis Wright Tremaine is proud to offer 60 free memberships! Additional information can be found here

2023 James E. Beckley Securities Arbitration and Law Competition: This annual event invites law students from across the U.S. to submit law review quality articles on legal matters and issues related to protecting investors. First prize is $1,500, second prize is $1,000 and third prize is $750. Additional information can be found here

Equal Justice Works: Regional Public Interest Awards: Eight students throughout the country will be chosen to receive a Regional Public Interest Award for their innovation, impact, and commitment to public interest law. Recipients will receive a $250 cash prize and commemorative plaque. Application closes on April 9th. Additional information can be found here.  

The California Asian-Pacific American Judges Association (CAPAJA) is proud to give scholarships ($1,500 each) this year to law students who are serving or intend to serve as a judicial clerk/intern/extern in California and share CAPAJA’s mission to promote diversity in the legal profession, improve the administration of justice, and ensure access and fairness for all who use the courts. For more information can be found here.

1Ls: Law scholarships are available in the following areas: Environmental Law (Apply), Center for Law, Equality and Race (Apply), and International Law (Apply). A Public Service scholarship is also available: Current Student Public Service Scholarship (Apply). The application deadline is April 28th. Please see the email you received from Director Nasreen Zia on April 4th for more details.

2Ls: Mike Edison Law Student Scholarship: The Women Trail Lawyers Caucus awards a $5,000 scholarship to a female student entering her third year who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer. The winner will receive a registration and travel stipend to attend the AAJ Annual Convention. Application deadline is May 1st. 

ABA LGBT Public Interest Scholarship: The SOGI Commission is now accepting applications through April 28th for Summer and Fall 2023! This scholarship is intended for law students and/or recent law school graduates studying for the Bar who are either LGBTQ+ or who will be working in the LGBTQ+ space doing public interest work. One or more scholarships of up to $5000 each are awarded annually. Further information about the application process can be found here.

The Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA): Fran Kandel Public Interest Fellowship: This fellowship enables law students to work with an organization or individually to develop and implement a project in the field of public interest law. Each Fellow may receive up to $6,000, which is intended to cover project expenses and provide a stipend. Applications are due by 5:00pm on April 14th.
