Rising 2Ls & 3Ls: All Rise News: In response to community interest, the Law Library is piloting a subscription to All Rise News, an independent source of legal news and analysis. This pilot will help the library evaluate the feasibility of subscribing to these new types of resources. Please note that the number of subscriptions is limited for the remaining six months of the pilot. Subscriptions will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you wish to be added to the subscription list or have questions or feedback, please email Adrienne Nguyen, the Scholarly Resources and Metadata Law Librarian, at anguyen@law.uci.edu.

CalFresh Summer Enrollment Party, August 13, by appointment, UC Irvine Newkirk Alumni Center: CalFresh Enrollment Parties are single-day events where students can submit their CalFresh application AND complete their interview on the same day. If approved, you can receive up to $298 per month for groceries. See Dr.J’s 8/3 e-mail for special requirements and to make an appointment.

Mock Trial Info Session, Wednesday, August 19, 6:00pm, EDU 1121: Join UCI Law’s Mock Trial program for an info session detailing all of the new ways to get involved with Mock Trial this year, including weekly trial advocacy meetings open to 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls; the new and improved intramural tournament open to 2Ls and 3Ls; and how to get on the trial team itself to travel to weekend tournaments. Ms. JD Leadership Academy Intensive: Saturday, October 3, 12:00pm – 1:00pm, Georgia State University College of Law: Applications are open for this immersive program focused on preparing and uplifting the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Apply by August 21.

Student Organization re-registration has begun! All organizations must register every academic year in order to continue to be active and registered on campus. Kentucky Defender Career Fest | Fall of 2026Saturday, September 12 and Saturday, October 24: The KY Department of Public Advocacy, the statewide public defender system in Kentucky, is making early employment offers to 3L students at their in-person Career Fest. For those selected to attend the Career Fest, DPA will cover the costs of travel, hotel, and meals. To apply, fill out the Career Fest application and email your resume and a brief cover letter describing your interest in public defender work to dpacareers@ky.gov. The priority deadline is August 14, 2026.

Know Your RightsRefer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210).  The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
