New Announcements and Deadlines

Spring 2026 Tuition, Fees, and Disbursement: Tuition and fees for the Spring 2026 semester have now been assessed. Your spring semester scholarships and federal student loans will be disbursed to your ZOT Account by November 15. Remaining balances must be paid by 4pm on December 15. For more details, refer to Nasreen Zia’s email from 11/3.

2Ls: 2L Bar Prep & Spring Course Selection: ASP has created a short 5-minute video to help you strategically select your Spring 2026 courses as you think ahead to the bar exam. Refer to ASP's email from 11/4 for the video link.  

3Ls: Spring Bar Prep & Course Selection: ASP has created informational videos and a Bar Exam Planning Guide to help you select your Spring 2026 courses. Refer to ASP’s email from 11/4 for more information.

A History of Securities Law in the Supreme Court: November 12, 12:00pm-1:00pm; MPAA 420: Join Professor Haeberle and The Federalist Society for a discussion with Professor Adam Pritchard of Michigan Law school about his new book A History of Securities Law in the Supreme Court.

Decarbonization & Just Transition Speaker Panel: November 17, 6:00pm-7:00pm, LAW 3750: The UCI Law Environmental Law Clinic invites you to join them for this panel that will explore how legal, policy, and advocacy tools can accelerate decarbonization while ensuring a fair and equitable transition for workers and frontline communities.  The event is part of a global day of action connecting law students, practitioners, and advocates around the world to mobilize for climate justice. Counseling Center Tabling Event: Button Up Your Emotions: November 20, 11:30am-1:30pm; Ring Road: Create a button that showcases your emotions and how you are feeling. There will be a variety of images to choose from or create your own.

Counseling Center Tabling Event: Squeeze the Stress Away: December 2, 11:30am-1:30pm; Ring Road: Stop by and get creative as you make and decorate your own stress ball… come destress before finals.

Counseling Center Graduate Student Workshop Series: November 13 and Thursday, December 4, 4:00pm-5:00pm; various housing locations:  A workshop series for graduate and professional students including topics such as time management and rebooting your mental health.

SCHOLARSHIPS

2Ls & 3Ls: The Edward Medina Law Scholarship: This scholarship is established in memory of UCI Law student, Edward Medina, who passed away in 2024. This is a one-time award of up to $5,000 and is in addition to any existing UCI Law scholarships and may replace student loans if the cost of attendance limit has been reached. For more details refer to Nasreen Zia's email from 11/4. Apply by 4pm on Friday, November 14.

Deborah Newquist and Joe DiMento Law Scholarship: This scholarship honors Distinguished Professor Emeritus Joe DiMento, a founding faculty member, and his wife, Deborah Newquist. The award can be in addition to any existing UCI Law scholarship and may replace student loans if the recipient has borrowed up to the cost of attendance. For more details refer Nasreen Zia’s email from 11/4. Apply by 4pm on Friday, November 14.

3Ls: The Flo Forward 3L ScholarshipThis scholarship supports law students in their final year of law school as they prepare to transition from the classroom to practice. Learn more and apply apply here by January 15.

CAREER FAIR

1Ls: Summer Associate Hub IP Virtual Interview Program: January 30, 2026: This program is open to current 1Ls (Class of 2028) with a technical degree (based on USPTO Patent Bar eligibility) interested in practicing patent law and seeking summer associate openings for 1L Summer in 2026 and/or 2L Summer in 2027. Register here ASAP, as registration is on a rolling basis.

Mobile Food Pantry Fall 2025: Student Housing, in collaboration with UC Irvine Basic Needs Center, will be hosting a mobile food pantry distribution date on Thursday, November 13, 11am-2pm, Palo Verde Housing, adjacent to Palo Verde Community Room. This date is open to all currently enrolled UC Irvine students.  Please book a pantry appointment starting on 11/3  as there will be no walk-in line on Mobile Food Pantry days. Questions? Lexis' Legal Research Office Hours: The 2025-2026 Lexis Student Representatives are hosting Legal Research Office Hours throughout the semester. Hours, locations, and Zoom links are provided below:

America's Next Top Trial Lawyer: This virtual online advocacy competition organized by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and UCLA School of Law will award monetary prizes to students judged to submit the best closing argument. Participants can choose whether to submit an argument on behalf of prosecution or defense. Students selected to participate will receive a fact pattern on November 25.  Register here.

OCWLA Foundation Bar StipendsThe OCWLA Foundation is pleased to provide $1,000 Bar Stipend Awards to worthy law students about to take the bar exam. The award is given to the student(s) that best exemplifies the mission of OCWLA, and a commitment to scholarship, community service, advancement of women or women’s issues, financial need, and to Orange County, California. Apply by November 20 for a February 2026 bar stipend.  Apply by April 20, 2026 for a July 2025 bar stipend.

3Ls: Federal Bar Association Inland Empire Chapter Law Student Scholarship: This $1000 scholarship is awarded to a student based on the applicant’s connection to the Inland Empire, academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and outstanding personal qualities.  Apply here by December 1.

CalFresh + Government Shutdown: The issuance of CalFresh benefits for November are expected to be delayed due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Please view further details related to the delay and resources to stay supported in this document.  Students can stay updated on the status of university-wide operations at this official Federal Government Shutdown website by UC Irvine. The team at the Basic Needs Center is currently planning measures to support students impacted by the delays in early November. Further information will be announced at the end of October via the newsletterInstagram, and website.

Know Your RightsRefer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210).  The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
