GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Update Canvas Settings for Class Email Communication and Announcements: Refer to Marisela Galindo's 8/25 email for instructions on how to update your canvas account to avoid missing any important communication.

1Ls: Resume Review: Refer to Dean Deol's 9/4 email for information on how to submit your resume. Submit updated resumes by Monday, October 6 at 5:00pm.

2Ls & 3Ls: Interviewing Reminders: Wear professional business attire to both in-person and virtual interviews. Review the CDO's Resumes, Cover Letters, and Other Application Materials Workshop Handout for guidance on which documents to bring to an interview.

CAREER ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

American Arbitration Association (AAA) 2025 Diverse Student ADR Summit: November 1-2: New York: AAA is now accepting applications for their 2025 Diverse Student ADR Summit to learn more about careers in arbitration and mediation. Selected students will receive a $1,300 stipend to help cover cost travel and lodging expenses. Apply for summit by September 25.

William P. Gray (WPG) Inn of Court Student Opportunity: WPG Inn of Court is a local chapter of the American Inns of Court and is looking for 4 student volunteers for their chapter meetings and events. Email completed WPG Inn of Court Law Student Application to wpginnofcourt@gmail.com by Wednesday, September 10.

Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) 2026 Law Program: May 22-June 5: FASPE is now accepting applications for their two-week fellowship program that will examine the actions and choices of German lawyers in enabling Nazi politics. Program is fully funded and will take place in Germany and Poland. Review FASPE website for application requirements and process. Apply for fellowship by Sunday, January 4, 2026.

UC Irvine Law Mock Trial: Opening Statements & Closing Arguments: September 11, 6:00pm: MPAA 420: Refer to Dr. J's 9/5 email for workshop details.

Community Conversations - "Teaching Justice": September 11, 12:00pm-1:00pm; MPAA 420: UC Irvine Law faculty are hosting a series of Community Conversations to hear from the law school community on enhancing legal education at UC Irvine School of Law. Refer to Dr. J's 8/20 email for series information and dates/topics for upcoming conversations.

Moot Court Competition Sign Ups: Refer to Dr. J's 9/2 email for the Moot Court sign up form and additional information. The form allows you to specify your partner or be paired randomly. Teams should confirm that both partners want to join the competition and should only submit one form. Sign up by Friday, September 12 at 5:00pm.

The "Limits on Executive Power" Series: September 10, 12:00pm-1:00pm; MPAA 420: Join the EDI Committee for the next session in its series the “Limits of Executive Power.” Prof. Christopher Williams will discuss, “What is Critical Race Theory and Why is the President of the U.S. Concerned?” CRT has been bandied about in the media, especially social media, as dangerous, and there have been efforts to ban CRT from study at various educational institutions. Join this conversation to get facts and understanding. RSVP for lunch by Friday, September 5 at 11:59pm. 

"Sips & Stories: An Alumni & Student Mixer": September 20, 5:00pm-6:00pm; LAW Courtyard: We are welcoming the Class of 2015 and 2020 for a 10-and 5-year Reunion. Current students are invited to attend this mixer. RSVP by Friday, September 12.

UC Irvine Law Endowed Faculty Celebration: September 24, 4:30pm-6:00pm; DCE Courtyard: UC Irvine Law celebrates the appointments of Professor Richardson as Chancellor's Professor of Law and Professor Robinson-Dorn as Myron and Sonya Glassberg Chair in Environmental Law. RSVP by Tuesday, September 16.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Requesting Disability Accommodations: Refer to Dean Jones' 8/19 email for information on how to obtain disability accommodations.

UC Irvine Law Student's Mandatory Training: All students are required to complete the assigned sexual harassment training each academic year. Failure to complete course will result in an account hold for spring course registration. Deadline for course completion is Friday, October 24.  Refer to Dean Jones' 8/18 email for course access and additional information.

1Ls: Registration with the California Bar: All students who are planning to take the California Bar Exam must register with the California Bar. Refer to Dean Jones' 8/20 email for further instruction.

STUDENT SUBSCRIPTIONS

California Daily Journal: All law students can receive free digital access to the Daily Journal. Refer to the Daily Journal user guide for instructions on how to access subscription.

Cal Lawyer: All law students can receive free access to career focused subscription tailored for law students from the Daily Journal. Refer to the Daily Journal user guide for instructions on how to access subscription.

Know Your Rights: Refer to the information in this Know Your Rights guide provided by UCOP for immigrant legal services. Copies have been posted on the student bulletin boards within the Law School and pocket/wallet-sized cards are available for pickup in the Student Affairs and Student Services Suite (MPAA 210).  The suite also has red cards available from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
