New Announcements and Deadlines

Princeton Review Student Survey: Give your feedback about your experience in the JD program at UCI Law by completing the Annual Student Opinion Survey by Friday, March 22. Refer to Dean Patty Furukawa’s email on March 6 for more details.

Pro Bono and Student Life Awards Nominations: It is time to nominate your peers, faculty, and staff! Be sure to submit your nominations no later than Monday, March 11 at 11:59pm by filling out the Awards Nomination Form. The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 5:00pm in the Continuing Education's Yosemite Room, where the results will be announced!

2024 Admitted Students Weekend (ASW): Friday and Saturday, April 5 & 6: Calling for Student Volunteers: The Office of Admissions & Student Financial Services is seeking student volunteers to attend components of the weekend to interact and mingle with admitted students. Interested students must complete the ASW Student Volunteer form by Friday, March 22. Contact Assistant Director of Admissions, Colleen Roney with questions.

Ms. JD: We Persist: A Symposium on Women in Law: Friday, April 12, Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles: This symposium will provide the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers across the legal field, participate in breakout sessions to discuss real-world challenges to women in law, and engage with other influential leaders. National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC): Child Welfare Law Conference and Career Fair, Sunday, August 11 through Wednesday, August 14, Salt Lake City, Utah: This event is designed to foster careers in child welfare law offices and agencies while facilitating valuable networking opportunities with NACC members and law office leaders nationwide. Purchase your Dual Registration for $675 by July 31 to attend both the career fair on August 11 and the conference from August 12 to 14. Please note that dual registration is mandatory to participate in the career fair. Equal Justice Works: 2024 Regional Public Interest Awards: Showcase your commitment to public interest law. Students are recognized for their innovation and impact in clinics, volunteer work, and internships. Recipients will receive a $250 cash prize and a commemorative plaque. View details and apply here by April 8 by 8:59pm.

MAX by AccessLex Grand Prize Scholarship Drawing: Earn chances to win $25,000 or $40,000 toward your law school costs! Complete all the activities in your personal finance course and attend at least two webinars to unlock 10 bonus entries for April's drawing.

Announcement Reminders

First Generation Professions (FGP)'s Professional Clothing Drive: If you have professional clothes you no longer need, consider donating them to the FGP Professional Clothing Dive by dropping them off in the clear bins in EDU 1000 or the student lounge. We are also soliciting professional clothing donations from faculty, staff, and lawyers in the community. Then students are invited to pick up clothes for themselves from April 1 through April 3 in MPAA 301. Clothing that is left after April 3 will be donated to UCI’s Basic Needs Center. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the FGP board members at lawfgp@lawnet.uci.edu

Center for Equal Opportunity (CEO): Summer Civil Rights Fellowship: Washington, D.C., Monday, August 5 through Friday, August 9: Participants will receive training in media communication through speaking and writing during seminar-style sessions led by experts in law, policy, litigation, former government officials, and influential figures, covering various civil rights topics. Fellows will receive a $500 stipend, lodging, and meals. Apply by March 31.

ABA LGBT Public Interest Scholarship Program: This scholarship awards up to $5,000 to students who are LGBTQ+ or who will be doing public interest work in the LGBTQ+ community. Students who have a secured internship or job for Summer 2024 are eligible to apply by April 19.
