1Ls: CDO Mock Interview Program - January 29 through February 2: Enhance your interviewing skills by securing an appointment with someone other than your primary counselor by Friday, January 26 at 2:00pm. 3Ls: Carrie Menkel-Meadow and Robert Meadow Public Interest Scholarship: Students who intend to pursue a career in public interest law upon graduation and are in good academic standing are welcome to apply to win a one-time award of up to $10,000. View details and requirements and submit your application materials to finaid@law.uci.edu by Friday, February 9.

California Supreme Court Historical Society: Selma Moidel Smith Student Writing Competition: Submit your paper on California state or colonial history for a chance to win a $5,000 first-place, $2,500 second-place, or $1,000 third-place prize! Submissions are due by June 1 and should be sent to director@cschs.org with the subject line "Smith Prize." Learn more here.

Announcement Reminders

1Ls: CDO & ASP Workshops: Tuesday, January 16, at 10:30am to 1:00pm, Continuing Education’s Yosemite Room: ASP and CDO will address how to respond productively to your fall semester performance. We will teach you how to learn from your fall semester performance and tweak your study strategies, as well as create a career development plan and tackle job interviews. Morning coffee and lunch with dessert will be provided.

Free Professional Photo Booth: UCI students and recent alumni can now benefit from free professional headshots to enhance their professional image, offered by the Division of Career Pathways (DCP). Details about this walk-in service can be found here.

3Ls, LLMs, and Grad Tax Students: 2024 Tax Notes Student Writing Competition: Students have an opportunity to be recognized for superior writing on unsettled questions in tax law or policy. Winning entries are published in Tax Notes' weekly magazine, and authors receive a 12-month subscription to daily and weekly products. Review the guidelines and submit your paper by June 30 for a chance to contribute to the Tax Notes archives.

1Ls: American Bar Association's Section of Legal Education SurveyThe Council of the Section of Legal Education and the Admissions to the Bar of the ABA would like to understand the composition of UCI Law's student body and of first-year law students nationally to enforce its standards and to provide accurate consumer information. Click here for FAQs and the link to a 5-minute survey.
