New Announcements and Deadlines

1Ls & 2Ls: Volunteer as a Mock Trial Witness: Students can volunteer to act as witnesses in the final trial of the mock trial competition on Saturday, November 4th between 10:00am and 12:00pm. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about the mock trial program and to see the best advocates in the law school fight it out for the title of Champions. The volunteers will be led through a direct examination by the attorney competitors, followed by a cross-examination from the opposing team. You will be provided with the case packet and will be told which witness you will be portraying. Interested students can email the Board at lawmocktrial@lawnet.uci.edu.

Zot Health Wellness Fair: The UCI Center for Student Wellness & Health Promotion is hosting this annual event on Thursday, November 2nd from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Student Center, Pacific Ballrooms. Join them for health and wellness booths, therapy dogs, and some prizes and giveaways!

Mohannad and Rana Malas Lecture in Islamic Legal Studies: Join us as Distinguished Professor, Sherman Jackson presents Law and Politics: Between Shariah and the Islamic Secular on Monday, November 6th at 5:30pm in EDU 1111, with a reception immediately following. RSVP today.

LGBTQIA+ Community Circle: Join the LGBTQ Center OC and Groundswell on Thursday, October 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Groundswell in Santa Ana, CA. They will talk through the hate activity data for Orange County and discuss how to move forward together. To attend, register today.

Enter Your Villian Era - Halloween Bash: The Public Law Center is hosting its annual Halloween event on Friday, October 27th from 6:30pm to 11:00pm at the Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa, CA. You may purchase your ticket here to attend.

Well-Being Conference: The Institute for Well-Being in Law (IWL) is hosting this virtual conference on January 23rd-25th. It will focus on redesigning the legal profession to support individual, organizational, and institutional thriving. Register to attend.

Announcement Reminders

Orange County Hispanic Bar Association - Student Opportunities: Students of Latino origin and who are involved in the Latino community are eligible to apply by October 31st for:

1Ls & 2Ls: Wally Davis Scholarship: One to four scholarships and up to $25,000 will be distributed among the recipient(s).
3Ls: 2024 Bar Stipend: One to three stipend awards will be given and a maximum of $3,000 will be distributed among the scholarship winners. Eligible bar takers must be registered for the February or July California Bar Exam.

Student Health Center's COVID Information: Promoting a healthy environment at UCI Law is a collective effort of everyone in our community—students, staff, and faculty. Your individual choices directly affect the well-being of others. You should be familiar with and follow the guidelines outlined on the Student Health Center’s COVID Information and Updates page (https://shc.uci.edu/covid-information-and-updates), which includes information about COVID symptoms and what do if you test positive or think you might have been a close contact. You should also be alert for and follow any additional UCI public health policies that may be announced from time to time.

Please do not come to class if you are feeling sick or exhibiting COVID symptoms. Instructors have been strongly encouraged to provide access to class recordings for students who miss a class session for this reason. Please consult your instructor’s syllabus for more information and ask your instructor if you have questions.
