Ms. JD Law Student Leadership Academy Virtual Conference: will be held on Thursday and Friday, June 15th thru 16th. Accomplished attorneys, influential thought leaders, and professional development experts will be discussing their personal journeys as women in leadership positions. First 300 students to register will receive free admission. 
California Women Lawyers Annual Conference: Blazing our Path Forward: will be held on May 19th from 8:30am to 7:30pm at the Avenue of the Arts Hotel in Costa Mesa, CA. Free admissions for the first 25 law students to register (use promo code ACSTUDENT when registering).

Orange County City Attorney's Association - Student Memberships: Members of the OCCAA have donated a student membership to allow one UCI Law student to attend their monthly luncheons, usually held in Costa Mesa. Students who are interested in public law and local government can email Dean Deol by Monday, May 22nd at 5:00pm with a short statement explaining their interest in this area of law and any relevant information from their background. One name will be drawn to attend the next meeting on June 15th and a rotation of students will be implemented for the remainder of the summer.

Major, Lindsey & Africa: 10 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Choosing a Practice Area:  The CDO recommends you watch this presentation as part of your EIW preparation.  The presentation poses 10 questions designed to illuminate the distinguishing working realities and demands of a career in major areas of practice.  The recording is available here.  There are additional resources on practice areas on the CDO’s Private Sector page under “Law Firm Practice Area Guides.”

Upcoming Job Fairs:
  1. Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair:  The conference and career fair will take place in-person in Chicago from Monday, July 24th through July 26th and the career fair will be held on Monday, July 24th.  Details on registration can be found here.
  2. Bay Area Diversity Career Fair: The career fair will take place Thursday, July 13th (virtual panel at 12:00 p.m. PT) and Friday, July 14th (virtual interviews). Registration deadline: Monday, June 19 at 11:59am PST.     
  3. Boston Lawyers Group Diversity Job Fair:  The virtual job fair will take place on Wednesday, July 19th. Student registration will open in May 2023.  The BLG website states that more information about the Pre-Job Fair Reception and other Job Fair details will follow.

Federal Bar Association - Free Membership for Students: This includes up to three years of associate membership while enrolled in law school as well as free first year membership as a professional member upon graduation. Learn more about this program here and apply today!

ABA Annual Law Student Writing Competition: All current law students are welcome to participate and can choose a topic which can be written from the legal lens with a balance full spectrum legal analysis. First place award is $3,000 and publication in the ABA Journal of Law and Employment Law. Submission deadline is June 15th.

2023 James E. Beckley Securities Arbitration and Law Competition: This annual event invites law students from across the U.S. to submit law review quality articles on legal matters and issues related to protecting investors. First prize is $1,500, second prize is $1,000 and third prize is $750. Additional information can be found here

Jessup International Law Moot Court TeamApply and join the world's largest moot court competition and compete against other law schools. Four new team members will be selected. Application deadline is May 29th at 11:59pm.

Public Interest Summer Internship Primer: Join Equal Justice Works virtually for a three-day public interest primer on May 31st to June 2nd that is designed to help students prepare for their summer legal internships. Register to attend.
