6th Annual UCI Law Intellectual Property & Patent Law Career Day: Please join us on Saturday, April 8th from 9:00am to 12:00pm in the California Room of the Law Library, EDU 1111 & EDU 1131. This event will educate students about IP law, career opportunities in IP law, and facilitate connections and relationships between the Southern California IP bar and UCI Law students. This event is designed for all students interested in intellectual property law, regardless of whether the student has a hard science background or not.

2023 Loyola Chicago Patent Law Interview Program: This two-day interview program is held in Chicago each summer for patent law employers to interview law students for summer positions and post-graduate employment. Register by March 27th.

2Ls: Annual Bay Area Diversity Career Fair: BADCF will be held virtually on July 13th and 14th for students to engage with leading law firms, corporate in-house legal departments, government agencies, nonprofit and other private/public legal employers. Register by Monday, June 19th to attend!

1Ls: Save the Date - Enrollment and Graduation Workshop: Join the Student Services Office for this virtual workshop on Friday, April 14th at noon to learn more about upper-division registration process, the required steps for graduation, as well as any questions that arise regarding your upcoming 2L year. Zoom link will be provided soon!  

Energy Bar Association (EBA) - Free Membership: The EBA is an international, non-profit association of attorneys, energy professionals, and students active in all areas of energy law. Davis Wright Tremaine is proud to offer 60 free memberships! Additional information can be found here.

Law School Survey of Student Engagement - Amazon Gift Card Opportunity Drawing: On Tuesday, February 28th, you should have received an invitation to participate in the Law School Survey of Student Engagement (LSSSE) from Dean Parrish. We encourage you to participate and as an extra incentive, an opportunity drawing has been created and the LSSE administrators will randomly pick 4 students to receive a $25 Amazon gift card! For help with logging into the survey, please contact LSSSE.

3Ls: National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutor's Association's Mock Interviews: NAPIPA will be conducting mock interviews on April 13th and April 14th via zoom. Students who are interested in getting a better understanding from the perspective of a Prosecutor's Office can email the Secretary of the Norcal Chapter of the NAPIPA, Sam Nong.

Law Library's "Celebration of Books": This speaker panel event will be held on Monday, March 27th from 3:00pm to 4:30pm in the California Room to highlight and acknowledge the books authored, co-authored, edited or co-edited by our full-time faculty since July 2021. To RSVP, please refer to and accept Mari Kroll's Outlook invitation that you received on March 13th.

UCDC Follow-Up: 
  • Info Session Recording:  If you missed the March 1st information session, please see the 3/14 email from Law Externships for instructions on how to view it.
  • Meetings with the UCDC Director: If you have any interest or curiosity about UCDC, Anna Davis strongly encourages you to schedule a meeting with UCDC Director Nicole Lehtman. Please see the 3/14 Externships email for the link to schedule a meeting.
  • Possible New Info Session:  Since the last info session was in conflict with the clinic info session, Nicole is willing to offer another UCDC info session if there is enough interest.  Email Anna Davis to let her know you are interested in attending.    

US Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps' Informational Interviews: Students who would like an information interview on April 4th need to submit their resume in LEO by March 28th!

3Ls: Please complete the ASP & Registrar’s Bar Exam Survey. July 2023 bar takers who wish to be guaranteed a match with a UCI Law alumni bar mentor, please complete the survey by Sunday, April 2nd at 11:59 p.m. PT.

MAX Grand Prize Drawing: AccessLex Institute's Center for Education and Financial Literacy has partnered with UCI Law to help support your financial wellness. As part of this partnership, students are eligible for the upcoming drawing that will have 9 winners in total: two $25,000 winners and one $40,000 winner in each class! To earn entries, you must complete the following before March 31st: 

  • First register for, or log on to your free account at AccessLex.org,
  • Second, enter MAX by AccessLex® and go to “Upcoming MAX Events" and register for as many topics that appeal to you.
  • To maximize your entries, complete the MAX course in your class year, and earn 10 additional bonus entries.

Legal Aid Association of CA's Dan Bradley Fellowship: The LAAC fellowship of up to $8,000 is awarded to students who want to pursue a career in public interest law and who want to spend their summer working on a rural or racial justice issue at a LAAC member legal aid organization. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 8th.  

APABA Public Interest Fellowship: Fellows will receive a $7,000 grant to spend at least 8 weeks of their summer working at a nonprofit public interest organization or governmental agency that provides free legal services to low-income individuals and/or families in Los Angeles County. For further information, please see the application guide and submit your applications here no later than March 27th.

1Ls: The 2023 Robert Masur Fellowship: Applications are now open to all 1Ls who intend to contribute to the areas of civil rights and/or civil liberties during the summer by participating in a writing or research project, work with a public interest organization, work on a civil rights or civil liberties law case under the supervision of a faculty member or lawyer, or any other work in the areas of civil rights or civil liberties. Each fellow will receive a $2,000 honorarium. Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 21st.

2Ls: Ms. JD Fellowship Program: This program promotes mentorship and professional development for women-identifying law students. Each fellow will be matched with a practicing attorney mentor to help prepare them to enter the legal profession and will be invited to receive financial support to attend the Ms. JD's NWLSO Leadership Academy Intensive, as well as complete a project that benefits their community. Application will close on April 2nd. More information, including how to apply, can be found here

The Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA): Fran Kandel Public Interest Fellowship: This fellowship enables law students to work with an organization or individually to develop and implement a project in the field of public interest law. Each Fellow may receive up to $6,000, which is intended to cover project expenses and provide a stipend. Applications are due by 5:00pm on April 14th.
