Announcements and Deadlines

California Judges Association (CJA): Moral Character: A Critical Component of Fitness for Admission to the California State Bar and in the Practice of Law: Please join the CJA Judicial Outreach Committee for a discussion on the moral character component of admission to the State Bar beyond the attorney oath and much more! This virtual panel will be held on Tuesday, March 14th at 12:15pm to 1:15pm. More information, including registration, can be found here.

Law Alumni Association Public Interest Social: The Law Alumni Association invites UCI Law's public interest students and alumni to a casual social on March 2nd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Taquiero Taco (4517 Campus Dr.). Mentors, mentees, and other students and alums from UCI Law's public interest community are welcomed! We hope to see you there! 

3Ls: ASP's Early Bar Prep Program: This self-study workshops were created to assist students in preparing for summer bar prep. They offer bar skills and strategy workshops, as well as black letter law review. Students who watch five skills and strategies workshops by Monday, April 24th can enroll in AdaptiBar for the discounted price of $100! More information can be found on the Canvas course page

2Ls: Federal Bar Association of Los Angeles (FBA-LA) Judicial Clerkship Mentoring Program: Students who are selected to participate in this program will be assigned a mentor who is an FBA-LA member and meet with them regularly via zoom or in-person. Mentors will assist students in applying for federal judicial clerkships by informing them about the application and interview process, as well as reviewing their prepared materials for the OSCAR application. Students who apply must intend to apply for clerkships via OSCAR's Federal Law Clerk Hiring Plan. Applications for this program are due by Wednesday, March 8th at 5:00pm.

2023 California ChangeLawyers 3L Next Gen Scholarship: This $5,000 cash award is available for students who wish to be attorneys in California and who are determined to create a more just and representative justice system. Deadline to apply is February 28th! All scholarship recipients will be required to attend an all-day event in the Los Angeles area to receive their scholarship. The Other Bar: This private, non-profit organization consists of a network of law students, lawyers, and judges throughout California who are dedicated to helping others within the legal community who are suffering from alcohol and substance abuse issues. They have been providing confidential recovery services for students for over forty years and are now holding weekly one-hour statewide law student recovery meetings via Zoom on Wednesdays at 8:00pm. UCI's American Indian Student Association (AISA) Winter Warm-Up: Join AISA for an evening of fun with food and beverages on Thursday, March 2nd from 4:30pm to 6:00pm at the Cross-Cultural Center, in the Ring Room on the second floor. 

The Womxn's Center for Success: EmpowerUs Summit: This campus wide event will be held on March 10th from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Cove at the UCI Beall Applied Innovation building for students, faculty, and staff. Session topics will focus on topics such as wellness, intersecting identities and personal and professional development. Register here.

2023 Commencement: This year's in-person commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 6th! Information regarding the keynote speaker, along with faculty and student speakers, will be announced in March. Orange County Women Lawyers Association (OCWLA) Student Representative: OCWLA is dedicated to advancing women in the legal profession by providing a professional network, raising awareness of discrimination and bias, and supporting charitable organizations.  OCWLA is looking to select one student representative from UCI Law who will become part of the OCWLA community that is dedicated to the advancement of its members and can attend various networking and other events throughout the year. The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Scholarship: The Women Lawyers of Los Angeles (WLALA) provides tuition scholarships to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to issues affecting women, children, minorities, or other historically marginalized group and who intend to practice law in or engage in legal work that affects LA County. The deadline to apply for this one-time tuition scholarship of a minimum of $5,000 is April 30th.

Inland Empire Federal Bar Association Law Student Scholarship: Inland Empire Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (IE FBA) will be awarding two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to law students that have a connection to the Inland Empire. The scholarships will be presented at the Judges' Night Gala on March 23rd at the Mission Inn in Riverside. Deadline to apply is March 5th

2023 Loyola Chicago Patent Law Interview Program: This two-day interview program is held in Chicago each summer for patent law employers to interview law students for summer positions and post-graduate employment. Register by March 27th.

UCI Counseling Center Graduate Student Workshop Series: The following workshops aim to help graduate and professional students understand their concerns related to each topic and development skills to improve them.
