Background:

Alexandra Seldin is Senior Staff Counsel with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). Since joining the DFEH in 2007, Ms. Seldin has litigated cases in state and federal courts on behalf of the State of California in the enforcement of the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Unruh Civil Rights Act, and Ralph Civil Rights Act.

Early on in her career she acted as lead counsel in the landmark ruling in DFEH v. Acosta Tacos which received national media attention and resulted in an amendment to the FEHA to clarify that the definition of "sex" also includes breastfeeding. She has also headed DFEH’s special investigations/class action unit for complex systemic litigation.

Ms. Seldin holds a Bachelor of Science in public and environmental affairs with an emphasis in legal studies and obtained her J.D. from California Western School of Law in San Diego.
