Background:

Irene A. Pai is the Training Officer, Supervising Attorney of the Law Clerk/Undergraduate Honors Program, and Managing Attorney of a Felony Panel Team of trial attorneys at the Orange County Public Defender. In her 26th year as a public defender, she continues to litigate cases including special circumstance homicides. In her current roles, she develops the MCLE training curriculums office-wide for newly-hired attorneys as well as those handling the most serious and complex cases in the County and all the attorneys in between. She has presented on multiple topics relating to criminal law and trial advocacy in and outside of the office. She is certified by the California State Bar as a Criminal Law legal specialist. As a first-generation attorney and the first Korean-American attorney hired by the Orange County Public Defender, Irene is committed to increasing diversity among trial attorneys litigating the most complex and serious cases. She graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law after graduating with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
