Associate Area Counsel (Small Business/Self-Employed), IRS Office of Chief Counsel

Background:

Hans Famularo has served as an Associate Area Counsel (Small Business/Self-Employed) with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in Laguna Niguel since 2013.  As Associate Area Counsel, Mr. Famularo supervises the IRS Office of Chief Counsel Southern California partnership cadre and large trial team litigation.  Mr. Famularo began his career with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in 2004 as a Senior Trial Attorney and Special Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Tax Division in Los Angeles.  He received the IRS Office of Chief Counsel and U.S. Treasury Outstanding Litigator Awards in 2016.  Mr. Famularo is an adjunct professor of partnership tax at Chapman Law School.  Mr. Famularo served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Maurice B. Foley of the U.S. Tax Court from 2003 through 2004.  Mr. Famularo received a B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from UCLA in 1996, a J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2000, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2003.
