  • LinkedIn GroupThe CDO is now on LinkedIn! We have a group on the law school LinkedIn page dedicated to sharing networking opportunities, bar association invitations, and legal market news.   • Fall Interview Program: The 2016 Fall Interview Program is underway on Symplicity. Employers will schedule interviews with qualified candidates at UCI Law, by phone/skype, or at employer offices throughout September and October. You can access the session through the OCI module on the left side of your screen, and then select the "UCI Law 2016 Fall Interview Program" from the Session dropdown menu. Some upcoming deadlines include: 
    • CA Attorney General - Criminal Law (San Diego, CA) - Friday, September 9th
    • United States Attorney's Office (Riverside, CA) - Monday September 12th
    • Office of the County Counsel (Orange, CA) - Tuesday, September 13th
    • Legislative Counsel Bureau (Sacramento, CA) - Wednesday, September 14th

CDO Workshops
  • 2L-3L Job Search Strategy Session: September 13 (Tuesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, LAW 3750. In this workshop, we will discuss resources and job search strategies for Summer 2017 and post-graduate employment that students can utilize for government, public interest and private sector employment. Additional topics will include: job search timelines and on-campus interview programs including the Fall Interview Program and the Spring Interview Program. Please RSVP on Symplicity.
  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5 Information Session: September 13 (Tuesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, LAW 3500. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5 in Chicago, Illinois is visiting to promote internships and externships for spring and summer 2017, and Honors Attorney Fellowships. Attorney Kris Vezner will host a brown bag session where he will describe employment with federal government generally and U.S. EPA specifically; the many responsibilities of U.S. EPA, emphasizing the role of its Region 5 office; and the day-to-day work of an EPA attorney. Following this session, Mr. Vezner will host individual sessions for informational interviewing regarding the positions currently available, or employment with U.S. EPA more generally. 
  • U.S. Army JAG Corps Information Session: September 14 (Wednesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, LAW 4750. The U.S. Army JAG Corps is a diverse and broadly-skilled organization practicing law wolrdwide in a variety of practice areas, to include criminal justice, administrative and civil law, contract and fiscal law, international law, environmental law, and legal assitance. Join Major Robert Murdough to learn more about employment opportunities in the JAG Corps. If you are not able to make this time frame, Major Murdough will also be tabling from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the courtyard. 
  • California Attorney General Honors Program Information Session: September 21 (Wednesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, LAW 4850. Join real-life attorney's from the California Attorney General's Office as they describe the Honors Program and application process for 3L applicants. The Attorney General’s Honors Program is a highly competitive, two-year program for recent law school graduates and newly admitted lawyers committed to public service.   • Private Sector Direct Service Panel: September 22 (Thursday), LAW 4750Private sector direct service providers include small firms and solo practitioners that work with individuals and small businesses in a variety of legal contexts, such as criminal defense, trusts & estates, immigration, and family law. This informational session will focus on the hiring process for these firms, the nature of their work, and how to prepare for careers in these fields. Please RSVP on Symplicity.

  • Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair: October 28 and 29, (Friday and Saturday), Washington D.C. The EJW Conference brings together over 160 public sector employers from around the country. Register to attend and apply for interviews (2L summer and post-grad positions) here by September 14th.
  • Women Lawyers of Long Beach Membership: The WLLB is a network of attorneys (mostly, but not all, women) in Long Beach. They meet on a monthly basis to host educational / MCLE events, networking events, and social events. If you live in the Long Beach area or are interested in working there, WLLB would love to help you meet attorneys in the area. To join, complete the membership application and send to: WLLB, P.O.
