  • Receive Alerts for Job Postings: In your Symplicity account, you can create Job Search Agents to set specific search criteria for job postings and to schedule a regular email alert. Because the search agent is a saved detailed search, you can review the latest search results at any time without waiting for the email.   • Your SBA CDO Liaison: Olivia Weber (Class of 2017) is your appointed 2015-2016 CDO Liaison on the SBA Board of Directors. In addition to speaking with your career counselor, you are welcome to pass along any CDO feedback to Olivia. She is enthusiastic about her role within SBA and will share feedback she receives with CDO.

  • Recruiting Tips for Landing an IP Job: Featuring Snell & Wilmer: November 17 (Tuesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, MPAA 408. Snell & Wilmer lawyers will give practical advice regarding the kinds of IP candidates law firms are looking for. They will also share tips on resume preparation, cover letters, interview skills, and follow-up after the interview. The chair of the firm’s IP department, Chuck Hauff, from the Phoenix office, and Andrew Flior, from the Orange County office, will discuss these and other topics, providing students insight into what employers are looking for.   • OCBA Fall Member Mixer: November 12 (Thursday), 5:30pm - 7:30pm, Morton's The Steakhouse in Santa Ana. Join members of the Bench and Bar for an evening of socializing and networking. Always a popular event, this annual mixer features gourmet appetizers, refreshing beverages, door prizes, music, and more. Register online at www.ocbar.org. Nonmembers, $65.   • Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law Symposium: November 14 (Saturday), 10:00am - 3:00pm (Check-In at 9:00am), Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. This event will feature programming panels and networking opportunities. The panelists come from sophisticated and varied backgrounds and include an administrative trademark judge, the hiring partner for a major law firm, and attorneys from respected companies such as Discovery Communications, Facebook, Getty Images, and Mattel. Southwestern will also be presenting an innovative Art Law Panel and incorporating a new professional development component within the TV & Cable panel. Dress code is business casual. Boxed lunches will be provided for students. Parking is available on campus for $10, and carpooling is recommended. For more information, click here.

  • Moving Forward Through Diversity: November 17 (Tuesday), 5:30pm - 8:00pm (Registration at 5:00pm), Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa. The Orange County Bar Association Diversity Task Force will be hosting a panel discussion about perspectives on the collective benefits of a diverse workforce in today's legal environment. The panel will include the Honorable Karen Robinson (Orange County Superior Court), Sara Bowen (Director and Corporate Counsel for Employment Law, Starbucks Corporation), Michael Baroni (General Counsel, Palace Entertainment), Joseph Chairez (Partner, Baker Hostetler LLP), and Frank Ospino (Orange County Public Defender).
