  • Fall Interview Program: We are pleased to announce the launch of the 2017 Fall Interview Program! Government, Public Interest, and Private Practice employers are ready to receive application materials on Symplicity. Employers will schedule interviews with qualified candidates at UCI Law, by phone/skype, or at employer offices throughout the fall. You can access the session through the OCI module on the left side of your screen, and then select the "UCI Law 2017 Fall Interview Program" from the Session dropdown menu. Immediate deadlines include:

    • 2Ls: Small Business Administration (Santa Ana, CA) - Friday, Aug. 25

CDO Workshops
  • Government Hiring Programs and Government Resources: August 24 (Thursday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, MPAA 408. This informational session for 2Ls and 3Ls will focus on Federal and State Summer and Post-Graduate Honors Programs and other avenues to entry-level government positions. We will de-mystify the application processes (from exams to interviews), discuss where to find opportunities, how to use government research resources, timelines, and what makes an applicant desirable.   • Cold Apps, Informational Interviews, and Strategic Planning: August 30 (Wednesday), 12:10pm - 1:20pm, EDU 1131. This interactive workshop for 2Ls and 3Ls seeking summer 2018 and post-graduate employment will cover the essential components of a comprehensive and strategic career action plan to enhance professional success in the private and public sectors. Topics to be discussed include how to formulate a career plan, research employers, conduct informational interviews, and submit "cold" applications. RSVP on Symplicity.
  • How to Navigate Public Interest Resources: September 5 (Tuesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, MPAA 408. This workshop will discuss various public interest career resources and offer tips on how to use them. Public interest resources can be organized by practice areas, professional work environments, and hiring programs. Come learn how to navigate the resources that are most helpful for you!   • Navy JAG: September 8 (Friday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Courtyard. You will have the opportunity to connect with a Navy JAG through this informal event. Stop by the employer table to get a sense of this organization. Don't miss this opportunity to connect!
  • How to Navigate Private Sector Resources: September 13 (Wednesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, MPAA 408. This workshop will walk through where students can locate private sector resources and how students can make the most of these resources when seeking summer and post-graduate employment. Resources to be discussed will range from sites useful to a biglaw job search to sites and directories that enable students to locate and target small and midsize firms. RSVP on Symplicity.
  • How to Navigate Judicial Clerkship Resources: September 20 (Wednesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, MPAA 408. Maximize your success in landing a clerkship! Learn how to access and use research sources that will help you quickly determine whether a particular clerkship is appealing to you, as well as resources to assist you in preparing more extensively for interviews with judges. This workshop is designed for 2Ls and 3Ls applying for post-graduate judicial clerkships who want to put their best foot forward and make the most of their application and interview process.   • Orange County Bar Association: Fair International Trade and State Law/Enforcement: August 21 (Monday), 12:00pm - 1:30pm, Newport Beach. This program will review State government approaches to international trade. These include pursuing litigation against foreign companies that engage in software piracy to gain commercial advantage against domestic competitors, using intellectual property protection for re-shoring, and state unfair competition laws. The need to increased cooperation between countries and courts in addressing judgments will also be covered. Visit here for more information on how to register. 
  • Webinar on The Attorney General's Honors Program and Summer Law Intern Program at the U.S. Department of Justice: August 28 (Monday), 11:00am or August 31 (Thursday), 8:30am. In this webinar, participants will obtain a bried overview of this year's programs and receive answers to questions about the application and hiring timeline (participants are encouraged to review the application prior to the webinars and have questions). Please RSVP to one session (include your name, law school attended, and the webinar date you choose to attend). 
  • Equal Justice Works Conference StipendsThe EJW Conference brings together 160+ public interest employers from around the country for interviews, workshops, and networking. UCI Law has a limited budget for small travel stipends for students attending the Conference. To apply for a travel stipend, please email Tiffany Tsao by NOON on August 31st with: (a) A short statement of interest explaining your commitment to the public interest (250 words or less); (b) Your goal for the trip; (c) A list of employers/networking targets and your plan to meet them.
