  • Spring Interview Program: It is the final week of the 2017 Spring Interview Program on Symplicity! Employers will schedule interviews with 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls either at UCI Law, by phone/skype, or at employer offices throughout the rest of March. You can access the session through the OCI module on the left side of your screen. Some upcoming deadlines include:
    • 1Ls & 2Ls: St. John Knits, Inc (Irvine, CA) - March 31
  • Employer Spotlight: Courtyard, 12:00pm-1:00pm. Throughout the Spring semester, you will have the opportunity to connect with employers through this informal event. Stop by the employer table to get a sense of their practice, culture, and hiring programs. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with practicing attorneys. Upcoming employers include:

CDO Workshops
  • Fall 2017 On-Campus Interview Programs: April 7 (Friday), 10:30am-11:30am, EDU 1131. The CDO strongly encourages all first-year students to attend this session to learn about Early Interview Week (EIW) and the Fall Interview Program (FIP). This session will provide essential information concerning On-Campus Interview logistics, timelines, and strategies to prepare for the process. The significant majority of EIW employers are large law firms that seek to hire students as summer associates during their 2L summer, with the potential for permanent offers to be extended for post-graduate employment. The significant majority of FIP employers are government agencies and public interest organizations that seek to hire students for their 2L summer where they will cultivate substantive expertise and relationships that may prove beneficial for securing post-graduate employment.   • Loyola Chicago Patent Law Interview Program Brown Bag Roundtable: April 12 (Wednesday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, LAW 3750. Join us for a roundtable discussion with 2Ls who attended the Loyola Chicago PLIP last year. Topics to be covered include researching law firms/prospective employers, bidding strategy, the relationship between Loyola Chicago PLIP and EIW, and interviewing and callback experiences of the panelists in Chicago last year. Those planning to attend Loyola Chicago PLIP are strongly encouraged to attend.   • Succeeding During Your Summer At a Law Firm: April 13 (Thursday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, LAW 3750. This panel discussion will cover the skills and strategies necessary to succeed as a summer associate at a law firm. The panelists will be 3Ls who worked as summer associates at law firms last summer. The program will include a discussion of important topics such as navigating a firm hierarchy and culture, how to manage work assignments, how to succeed at firm social events, and information regarding work productivity and the billable hour.   • The Orange County Bar Association Veterans and Military Committee Presents - Want to Help a Vet? Veterans and Tax Law: April 3 (Monday), 12:00pm - 1:30pm, Newport Beach. This program will discuss the substantive areas of tax law that have the greatest significance to service members and veterans. It will examine both federal and state aspects of the tax codes, describing the aspects of the law where veterans are treated differently than non-veteran taxpayers. The program is designed to train attorneys to be able to dispense tax-related legal advice to veteran clients. For more information, visit here
  • Kading Briggs LLP Presents Top 10 Do's and Don'ts To Get An Offer From Your Summer Job at a Firm: April 13 (Thursday), 5:30pm - 8:00pm. Kading Briggs attorneys will share their experiences and perspectives from their time as summer associates. Transportation will be provided from UCI to Glenn Briggs' home where the event will be held. Drinks and appetizers will be served and the attire is business professional.   • Advancing Technology with an Eye Toward Legal Careers: April 18 (Tuesday), 12:00pm - 1:00pm, UCI School of Engineering, Engineering Hall, Room 2430. Join attorneys from K & L Gates LLP, O’Melveny and Myers LLP, and Hankin Patent Law APC, for an informative discussion exploring careers in intellectual property and patent law for students with technical degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

  • Jones Day - 1L Diversity Meet and Greet: April 5 (Wednesday), 5:30pm, Los Angeles. Jones Day invites Los Angeles area 1Ls to this Diversity Meet & Greet.   • Transactional Law Panel and Mixer with Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth, P.C. hosted by the Business Law Society: April 10 (Monday), 5:30pm, Newport Beach. The attorneys at Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth, P.C. will present an "Introduction to Corporate Transactional Practice" panel at their Newport Beach firm. This panel of transactional attorneys will discuss life as a corporate attorney, life at a law firm, and advice for law students interested in pursuing corporate transactional work.
