  • Spring Interview Program: The 2017 Spring Interview Program is underway on Symplicity. Employers will schedule interviews with 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls either at UCI Law, by phone/skype, or at employer offices throughout the rest of March. You can access the session through the OCI module on the left side of your screen, by selecting the "UCI Law 2017 Spring Interview Program." Some upcoming deadlines include:

    • 1Ls & 2Ls: Disability Rights California (San Diego, CA) - March 17

  • Employer Spotlight: Courtyard, 12:00pm-1:00pm. Throughout the Spring semester, you will have the opportunity to connect with employers through this informal event. Stop by the employer table to get a sense of their practice, culture, and hiring programs. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with practicing attorneys. Upcoming employers include:

CDO Workshops

  • Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association Road Show: March 22 (Wednesday), 5:30pm-7:00pm, LAW 3750. LAIPLA will visit UCI Law to discuss careers in intellectual property, including patent, trademark and copyright law. Experienced IP practitioners with law firm and in-house experience will be panelists. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP on Symplicity.

  • Finding and Applying for Post-Graduate Judicial Clerkships: March 24 (Friday), 12:10pm-1:10pm, MPAA 420. Learn the “nuts and bolts” of putting together your judicial clerkship application materials, when and how to apply, and what judges look for when making hiring decisions. Please RSVP pn Symplicity to guarantee lunch. 

  • Post-Graduate Fellowship Information Session: [NEW DATE] March 27 (Monday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, MPAA 430. This presentation will provide an overview of post-graduate public interest fellowships with a discussion on Equal Justice Works, Skadden, and Soros Fellowships as well as information about finding smaller foundation and agency-based fellowships. 2Ls who intend to pursue public interest  post-grad are strongly encouraged to attend, and 1L students interested in looking ahead are also welcome! During the second half of this program Susan Butler Plum, the Founding Director of the Skadden Fellowship Program, will present (via Skype) an inside perspective on the Skadden application process.   • Fall 2017 On-Campus Interview Programs: April 7 (Friday), 10:30am-11:30am, EDU 1131. The CDO strongly encourages all first-year students to attend this session to learn about Early Interview Week (EIW) and the Fall Interview Program (FIP). This session will provide essential information concerning On-Campus Interview logistics and timelines, and strategies to prepare for the process. The significant majority of EIW employers are large law firms that seek to hire students as summer associates during their 2L summer, with the potential for permanent offers to be extended for post-graduate employment. The significant majority of FIP employers are government agencies and public interest organizations that seek to hire students for their 2L summer where they will cultivate substantive expertise and relationships that may prove beneficial for securing post-graduate employment.   • Loyola Chicago Patent Law Interview Program Brown Bag Roundtable: April 12 (Wednesday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, LAW 3750. Join us for a roundtable discussion with 2Ls who attended the Loyola Chicago PLIP last year. Topics to be covered include researching law firms/prospective employers, bidding strategy, the relationship between Loyola Chicago PLIP and EIW, and interviewing and callback experiences of the panelists in Chicago last year. Those planning to attend Loyola Chicago PLIP are strongly encouraged to attend.   • Foundation for Advocacy, Inclusion & Resources and California Employment Lawyers' Association Presents - The Sixth Annual Diversity Leadership Summit: March 29 (Wednesday), 9:00am-1:30pm, Loyola Law School. Learn how to find your professional style in the face of stereotypes and increase your leadership, employability and visibility throughout your career.   • Cooley - 1L Reception and Panel: March 23 (Thursday), 5:30pm-7:30pm, Los Angeles. Join Cooley lawyers from their Los Angeles and San Diego offices for an informal gathering to learn about fall recruiting and life at Cooley. Hiring partners, former summer associates and legal staff will share tips on navigating on-campus interviews and provide a preview of associate life at a big law firm. RSVP by March 16.
  • Jones Day - 1L Diversity Meet and Greet: April 5 (Wednesday), 5:30pm, Los Angeles. Jones Day invites Los Angeles area 1Ls to this Diversity Meet & Greet.   • Sheppard Mullin - 1L Rock Your Interviews: April 12 (Wednesday), 4:30pm-7:00pm, Costa Mesa. This program is designed to assist diverse law students in the interview process with a roundtable discussion with partners and associates from Sheppard Mullin's Orange County office. All 1L students are welcome to attend and the attire is business casual. RSVP by email to Patty McGraw by Wednesday, April 5.  
  • Kading Briggs - 1L & 2L Reception: April 13 (Thursday), 5:30pm-7:30pm, Irvine. Kading and Briggs is hosting a reception at their Irvine office for 1Ls and 2Ls who will be working in law firms this summer. All Kading Briggs lawyers have worked at big law firms and received offers as summer associates from firms including O’Melveny & Myers LLP, Paul Hastings and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
