  • Spring Interview Program: The 2017 Spring Interview Program is underway on Symplicity. Employers will schedule interviews with 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls either at UCI Law, by phone/skype, or at employer offices throughout February and March. You can access the session through the OCI module on the left side of your screen, by selecting the "UCI Law 2017 Spring Interview Program." Some upcoming deadlines include:
    • All: Orange County Public Defender (Santa Ana, CA) - February 24
    • 1Ls & 2Ls: Anaheim City Attorney (Anaheim, CA) - February 24 
    • 1Ls & 2Ls: Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office Hardcore Gang Division (Los Angeles, CA) - March 1
  • Employer Spotlight: Courtyard, 12:00pm-1:00pm. Throughout the Spring semester, you will have the opportunity to connect with employers through this informal event. Stop by the employer table to get a sense of their practice, culture, and hiring programs. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with practicing attorneys. Upcoming employers include:

CDO Workshops
  • Post-Graduate Fellowship Information Session: March 15 (Wednesday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, LAW 3750. This presentation will provide an overview of post-graduate public interest fellowships with a discussion on Equal Justice Works, Skadden, and Soros Fellowships as well as information about finding smaller foundation and agency-based fellowships. 2Ls who intend to pursue public interest  post-grad are strongly encouraged to attend, and 1L students interested in looking ahead are also welcome! During the second half of this program Susan Butler Plum, the Founding Director of the Skadden Fellowship Program, will present (via Skype) an inside perspective on the Skadden application process.   • Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association Road Show: March 22 (Wednesday), 5:30pm-7:00pm, LAW 3750. LAIPLA will visit UCI Law to discuss careers in intellectual property, including patent, trademark and copyright law. Experienced IP practitioners with law firm and in-house experience will be panelists. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP on Symplicity.
  • Finding and Applying for Post-Graduate Judicial Clerkships: March 24 (Friday), 12:10pm-1:10pm, MPAA 420. Learn the “nuts and bolts” of putting together your judicial clerkship application materials, when and how to apply, and what judges look for when making hiring decisions. Please RSVP pn Symplicity to guarantee lunch.

  • The Orange County Asian American Bar Association Presents - Sushi and Sake Fest: February 23 (Thursday), 6:00pm-8:30pm, Tustin. OCAABA invites all students to come, meet, and vote for the candidates of the OCAABA Board at Mizu Sushi Bar & Grill. For more information and to register, visit here
  • Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles Session: February 28 (Tuesday), 6:00pm-8:00pm, Los Angeles. Join CAALA to be a part of a discussion that may help your transition from law school. For more information, visit here
  • 2017 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program: Deadline March 10 (Friday). Online registration is now open for the Loyola Patent Law Interview Program, a two-day interview program held in Chicago each summer for patent law employers to interview law students for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment. To register, students must meet the March 10 deadline (students will upload resumes and bid on interviews later in the semester). Registration confirmation emails include vital information next steps. Please notify Jon Trujillo if you don't receive a confirmation email upon submission.
  • Equal Justice Works Public Interest Law Awards: Deadline March 10 (Friday). EJW awards are presented annually to eight law students from Equal Justice Works member schools who have a demonstrated commitment to public interest law and pro bono work. The Awards seek to identify and honor law students who have provided extraordinary service through clinics, volunteer work, internships, extracurricular projects, and more. Apply here by March 10.
  • Becoming a Professional - Developing Essential Skills for Building a Successful Legal Career: March 28 (Tuesday), 4:00pm-7:00pm, Newport Beach. This program brings together the four OC law schools to learn the "how and why" to developing the personal and social skills necessary for a successful career in the law. Learn the basics of how to build business relationships, survive difficult situations, network and create a positive professional image. Space is limited. RSVP early to confirm a space by emailing Jon Trujillo. Deadline to register is Monday, March 15.  
  • UCDC ApplicationThe UCDC Law Program is a full-time collaborative experiential learning program for students enrolled in one of the University of California Law Schools. Offered in Washington DC during the fall and spring semesters, the program provides a unique avenue for students to extern in a government entity on legal issues of national and international importance.   • Sheppard Mullin - 1L Reception: March 15 (Wednesday), 5:30pm-7:30pm, Eureka!. This 1L reception is for UCI Law students only. The dress is business casual. Please RSVP by Friday, March 10 to Patty McGraw (Recruiting Coordinator) with subject line "UCI Reception."
  • K&L Gates Kickstarter Program: March 20 (Monday) and March 27 (Monday), 5:00pm, K&L Gates Irvine Office. K&L Gates invites 1Ls who self-identify as diverse, or who are current or former U.S. service members, to attend a two-day seminar designed to educate 1Ls about the practice of law at a global law firm.  The program will prepare you for the transition to summer associate and practicing lawyer by providing specialized educational sessions, resources, and mentoring opportunities.   • Cooley - 1L Reception and Panel: March 23 (Thursday), 5:30pm-7:30pm, Los Angeles. Join Cooley lawyers from their Los Angeles and San Diego offices for an informal gathering to learn about fall recruiting and life at Cooley. Hiring partners, former summer associates and legal staff will share tips on navigating on-campus interviews and provide a preview of associate life at a big law firm.
