Announcements
  • Public Interest/Public Sector Career Day (PICD): February 11 (Saturday), UCLA School of Law. Representatives from public interest organizations, government agencies and offices, and private public interest firms throughout Southern California will be in attendance to talk with and interview 1L, 2L, and 3L students. See the December 21st email from Tiffany Tsao for more information. Deadline to apply for interviews is January 23.

  • Spring Interview Program: The 2017 Spring Interview Program is underway on Symplicity. Employers will schedule interviews with 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls either at UCI Law, by phone/skype, or at employer offices throughout February and March. You can access the session through the OCI module on the left side of your screen, by selecting the "UCI Law 2017 Spring Interview Program." Some upcoming deadlines include:
    • Public Advocates Inc. (San Francisco, CA) - January 20 
    • Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (Los Angeles, CA) - January 26  
    • U.S. Marine Corps Judge Advocates (Santa Ana, CA) - February 2
    • Young Minds Advocacy Project (San Francisco, CA) - February 2
  • Employer Spotlight: Courtyard, 12:00pm-1:00pm. Throughout the Spring semester, you will have the opportunity to connect with employers through this informal event. Stop by the employer table to get a sense of their practice, culture, and hiring programs. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with practicing attorneys. Upcoming employers include:

CDO Workshops
  • Lawyer Entrepreneur Assistance Program (LEAP) Information Session by the Legal Aid Society of Orange County: January 25 (Wednesday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, LAW 3500. LEAP is a unique incubator program designed for the newly admitted attorney looking to obtain valuable hands-on experience, and the resources to support them while they build their client base. 2Ls and 3Ls who are considering hanging their own shingle should attend to learn more.   • 1L Mock Interview Program: January 28 (Saturday), 10:00am-2:00pm. There is no better way to prepare for a PICD interview than to do a mock. All 1Ls are invited to participate in this mock interview program featuring alumni interviewers. To sign-up for a time, email Jon Trujillo by 8am on Tuesday, January 24. 
  • Introduction to Judicial Clerkships: January 30 (Monday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, EDU 1131. How does a judicial clerkship fit into your career path? Are you someone who might thrive in chambers? Join us to learn about the value of a judicial clerkship. Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will moderate a panel of former clerks (and recent alumni). Lunch will be provided. RSVP on Symplicity.
  • Department of Justice Legal Hiring Programs: February 9 (Thursday), 12:00pm-1:00pm, LAW 3750. Join U.S. DOJ Attorney Recruiter, Trisha A. Fillbach, for this presentation on the Department's four legal hiring programs. This presentation will be valuable for all students considering an internship, externship, or career with the Department of Justice.

  • Association of Business Trial Lawyers Student MembershipFor the first time, the ABTL Orange County is offering student memberships at the rate of $20. ABTL hosts six evening programs each year and is also known for its networking opportunities with the civil bench and highly skilled attorneys. Sign up here.
  • Orange County Asian American Bar Association Career Panel: January 19 (Thursday), 6:30pm-8:30pm, MPAA 420. OCAABA joins with APALSA to host a Career Panel Q&A session. Dinner will be provided. RSVP by January 17. 
  • UCI Korea Law Center Speaker Panel: February 1 (Wednesday), 12:10pm-1:00pm, EDU 1131. Conversation with five legal professionals whose work focuses on cross-border work in broader Asia. The panelists represent a variety of practices including intellectual property, entertainment law, complex business and corporate finance, in addition to those who practice as in-house counsel.   • 18th Annual JOLT Career Forum: February 1 (Wednesday), 5:00pm-8:00pm, Los Angeles. The Career Forum provides IP and technology law firms an opportunity to sponsor tables at the event and meet with students interested.   • 17th Annual Wm. Matthew Byrne Jr. Judicial Clerkship Institute: March 16-17 (Thursday-Friday), Pepperdine Law School. This program is dedicated to promoting justice and the federal judiciary through training federal judicial law clerks.
