Your Voice Matters! - LSSSE Survey: You should have received several emails from the National Law School Survey of Student Engagement (LSSSE) over the past few weeks. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to complete this survey (refer to the LSSSE emails for the link). We truly value what you have to say and would love to hear all your voices. As an incentive we will have LSSSE randomly pick 4 students who completed the survey to receive a $25 amazon gift card. The survey will remain open until April 15.

Commencement Ticketing: The Commencement ticket request form is now live. Tickets are required for all family and guests at the ceremony on May 7. Only UCI Law graduates may reserve tickets for their family or guests. Ticket requests are due no later than Wednesday, April 13 and we will not be able to accept any ticket requests past that date. Please check out the ticket reservation form under “Ticket Information” on the Commencement webpage. If you are requesting more than 10 tickets, please include a note in your submission for the additional quantity.

Law Library Hours Update: The Law Library hours for the rest of the semester will be as follows: Monday-Thursday: 8am-10pm; Friday: 8am-6pm; Saturday: 11am-5pm; Sunday: 11am-8pm.

Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair: will be held in-person in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 through Friday, July 29, 2022 (interviews are held on Friday, July 29) for rising 2Ls and 3Ls. Registration is now open. In the past, pre-registration closes about a week before the conference (specific date TBD) but earlier registration highly recommended. For more information on Lavender Law, including registration fees, see the CDO’s Career Fairs & Conferences page. If you intend to participate, please notify your primary counselor.

Cook County Bar Association Minority Job Fair: Registration is now open for students from the Classes of 2023 and 2024. Register by May 1. Bid for ranked employers between May 9 and May 27. CCBA employers are located primarily in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. Please advise your primary counselor if you register for this career fair.

Class of 2022: The CDO requires that every graduate attend an “Exit Career Counseling” appointment prior to picking up graduation regalia. To schedule your appointment, log in to LEO and select an available time between now and April 29. Certification for the July 2022 Bar Exam: For all July 2022 bar takers, make sure to fill out the Academic Skills Program survey ASAP to confirm your bar exam details. If you are taking a bar exam outside of CA, make sure to submit all required forms and communicate any specific requirements needed by your jurisdiction to certify your degree. Animal Legal Defense Fund: The Animal Legal Defense Fund is a national non-profit organization that works to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system and offers law students the opportunity to make a real difference in animals’ lives. Do you want to use your legal education to protect animals? Be a leader in the fight to win animals the legal protection they so desperately need and deserve. Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Resource Center Task Force: The AGS (Associated Graduate Students) is currently seeking 2 graduate students for the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Resource Center Task Force. The purpose of the task force is to envision the purpose, scope, and expectations for the center and to articulate the kinds of resources needed for it to be successful. Class of 2022: ASP is hosting a bar company orientation for BARBRI (4/13/22), Kaplan (4/14/22), and Themis (4/11/22) during the week of April 11. During each session, ASP will be joined by a representative of each bar-prep company to provide an overview on how to get the most out of your bar prep company’s resources, including (1) how to use your bar prep company’s online materials and books, (2) an overview of your bar prep company’s summer course schedule, and (3) whether and how specifically to effectively incorporate AdaptiBar practice into your bar prep company’s course schedule (if you choose to purchase AdaptiBar). You only need to attend the session for the bar prep company you are enrolled with for your summer intensive bar studies. The sessions will be held in EDU 1111 and on Zoom. Please RSVP by the appropriate deadline below if you plan on attending in person, as lunch will be provided.

Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE): Passing the MPRE is required for bar licensure or admission to the bars of all but two U.S. jurisdictions (Wisconsin and Puerto Rico). The MPRE is a separate exam from the bar exam that you will take after graduation. Most students opt to take the MPRE in August of their 1L or 2L summer. Registration for the August 10 or 11, 2022 MPRE is already open. While the deadline isn’t until June 9, the earlier you register, the better your chances of snagging a spot at your preferred testing location. Also, if you need testing accommodations, you will need to apply for those by no later than April 28. To help you prepare to take the MPRE, ASP will host a workshop on Friday, April 8, at 12:00-12:45 p.m. via ZoomDuring the workshop, you will learn all about the logistics for registering for and taking the exam, how to prepare, and tips for exam day.

Equal Justice Works Regional Public Interest Award: Eight students from throughout the country will be chosen for their innovation, impact, and commitment to public interest law. Recipients receive a $250 cash prize and commemorative plaque. Apply here by April 4.

Attention Students that are Parents: The Family Resource Center grand opening is on Friday, April 15 from 3-5pm, with a ribbon cutting at 3:30. The RFC will be located in Palo Verde Housing and is open to all UCI parenting students.

Sexual Assault Awareness/Autism Awareness/Child Abuse Prevention Month: April marks the official 21st anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the prevalence of sexual assault and educate community members on the ways in which they can work to prevent sexual violence. April is also a time where we can recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect through Child Abuse Prevention Month. It is also a time to acknowledge the resilience and elevate the voices of those with diverse abilities during Autism Awareness month.

Clothesline Project: During April 11-13 in Gateway Plaza, view a t-shirt visual display that gives voices to those with experiences of power-based violence. Each T-shirt created represents a particular individual's experience. This serves as a way of healing from a violent act and to empower one another by sharing the stories that are often silenced. Join us by viewing the display and/or creating a t-shirt to add to the display. More information available at:

Survivor Support Series: Starting April 11, this group will provide a safe space for survivors seeking support around managing the emotional, social, and relational impacts that can arise from unwanted sexual experiences. Topics may include coping skills, boundary setting, and different healing strategies. Space is limited and you can register here.

International Student De-stressing Workshops: Are you an international student who wants to learn how to manage stress and optimize your college experience? The Counseling Center is offering three de-stressing workshops for undergraduate and graduate international students at UCI! These skill-based workshops provide a safe and supportive space for international students to relieve stress, manage homesickness, and seek support. Workshop events will be listed below.
