We will talk about what you can and should be doing at this point in time with respect to your job search and will discuss the various resources and strategies you can use. We will cover firm, public interest, and government job search strategies.

UCDC Director Nicole Lehtman will be on campus Tuesday September 17 to meet with students and talk about the University of California in [Washington] D.C. Law Program.  The program offers law students from four UC law schools terrific and wide-ranging opportunities to work and learn in the nation’s capital.  If you are interested in the program, please sign up to meet individually with Ms. Lehtman while she is here. She is a former Assistant US Attorney for the District of Columbia with extensive knowledge of the D.C. legal community.  If you are interested in working in government or in one of the many other legal organizations headquartered in the capital, she will able to suggest placements and strategies to help you meet your particular goals.  The sign-up sheet for individual consultations is at the desk of Robert Medeiros, who is located at the far end of the LAW 3800 suite.  When you sign up, please send a copy of your resume directly to Ms. Lehtman at no later than 5 pm on Monday, September 16.  Lunch will be served for those who RSVP by 5 pm Monday September 16.  To RSVP for the information session, email Robert Medeiros at

Offered by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Orange County. This workshop will help students develop financial plans, track and evaluate spending. The facilitator will explain  step-by-step process of creating a budget including tips on how to stick to it. The Core Clinic Information Session will be held on Wednesday, September 18th from 12:10 PM to 12:40 PM in EDU 1131, and from 12:40 PM to 1:10 PM in the courtyard.  All 2L’s are invited to come and learn about the UC Irvine School of Law Core Clinics, and to have the opportunity to speak directly with clinic students about their experience.  We will have a short presentation with a general overview of the clinics from 12:10 PM to 12:40 PM, and then prospective clinic students will be able to talk with current clinic students in the courtyard to learn about the clinical experience and to ask questions that will help them to choose which clinic they hope to participate in.  Lunch will be provided.

Phi Alpha Delta Information Session

Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International (PAD) is the world's largest professional legal fraternity and is committed to advancing integrity, compassion and courage through service to the student, the school, the profession and the community.  PAD would like to establish a chapter at UCI.  The PAD network stretches from coast to coast and allows students to maintain a network of professional resources long after they graduate. Leah Farmer, the Member Services Consultant will be on campus Monday, September 23d tabling in the courtyard and hosting a general meeting from 12:30-1 in Law 3750 (food provided). Additionally, interested students are encouraged to join PAD for the District III Leadership Conference on Saturday, September 21 at Southwestern University. CARES Training, Offsite: Chapman University School of Law
Students who have been trained for this pro bono project will assist clients at Department of Social Services Offices in Los Angeles County in groups of 4-10. They will engage in supervised emergency benefits advocacy, particularly relating to shelter, food, health, transportation, and other social service needs.  CARES advocates routinely arrange for homeless individuals to receive shelter they would not otherwise have received, and assist indigent individuals in obtaining food and nutrition.  Interested students should sign up on PB Track and contact Leah Gasser-Ordaz ( or Becca Maloney ( to sign up for the training.

Offered by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Orange County. This workshop teaches the Federal Trade Commission’s “Deter, Detect, and Defend” program. Susan Pithey from the CA Attorney General's Office will do a question and answer workshop about the Fall 2014 Honors Program. This Program is targeted to 3Ls graduating in May 2014.The Attorney General’s Honors Program is a highly competitive, two-year program for recent law school graduates and newly admitted lawyers who are committed to public service. The Attorney General’s Office employs attorneys who are recognized experts in a wide variety of legal subject areas including but not limited to consumer, antitrust, environment, business and tax, criminal and civil rights. Honors attorneys will have the opportunity to work with these experts, including working on matters of public interest and importance. Participants will assume substantial individual responsibility for their work, will have the opportunity to gain courtroom experience, and will independently draft motions and pleadings.

FREE MPRE Exam Review with Dean Chemerinsky,

UCI School of Law is once again pleased to hold a special 3 ½ hour MPRE exam preparation course. The course is designed for students taking the  November 2, 2013  MPRE exam.  Passing the MPRE is necessary for admission to most state bars, including California.  It can be taken after the first year of law school. Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will teach the course, which is free to all students.  Room capacity is limited.  Please RSVP to Debbie Mondares at by Thursday, October 10.  Since we open this review to students from other OC law schools, it is important to reserve your seat early (we do block off a number of seats for UCI Law students).

Please join the Women's Law Society in the Courtyard to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Sandra Day O'Connor's Senate confirmation as our nation's first female Justice to the Supreme Court. This event will both kick of a year's worth of WLS programming and honor the achievements women have made in the legal community.
