Application Instructions for 2010 - Technical FAQ
Q: What software do I need to fill out and print the application form?
A: In order to open and fill out the 2010 Application form and the Letter of Recommendation and Waiver Form, you must have the Adobe Reader software installed on your computer. Adobe Reader is available free of charge and can be downloaded at http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Q: What version of Adobe Reader do I need?
A: We have tested the application with Adobe Reader version 9.1. We have received reports that if you try and open the forms using version 5.0, the system states that the form is "damaged and could not be repaired". Be sure to download the latest version of Adobe Reader. It is free of charge and can be downloaded at http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Q: Can I simply print the PDF form and fill out the application by hand?
A: Yes. We will accept any handwritten application.
Q: If I fill out the PDF, am I able to save the information that I entered on the form?
A: Within Adobe Reader, you should be able to go to the File menu and select Save. Specify the name of the document and location that you are saving and then click the Save button. To ensure that information is saving correctly, please fill in a few fields and then save the document. Close the document and retrieve the document again to ensure that data has been saved, and then continue completing the form.
Q: When using a Mac computer, can I use the Preview application to fill out the PDF?
A: No. If you are using the Preview application on the Mac operating system, the information entered will NOT save. You MUST use Adobe Reader when filling out the form, if you want the ability to save the information.
