Welcome from the Law Library Director,
Beatrice Tice
As the intellectual heart of the Law School, the Law Library provides the services and information resources of traditional first-rate research libraries, delivered in innovative ways that capitalize on 21st century developments in legal publishing and information technology. We have a rapidly growing print collection selected to enhance the developing curriculum and research of the School, from first-year study aids to scholarly monographs. Through our web portal, we provide ready access to all major legal databases, as well as other important digital resources and research tools. We have five full-time, dual-degreed librarians on staff who are eager to offer assistance with all legal information questions. And we offer a uniquely beautiful space, designed with natural materials that invoke both the tranquility and energy of nature, to create a special environment in which to think and to learn.
So I invite you to come in, use our information resources, consult with one of our librarians, and enjoy the Library’s signature rocking chairs. I look forward to seeing you!
About the Law Library
Located on the lower two floors of the Law Building, the Law Library provides access to an array of primary and secondary materials. Wireless access throughout the Library, several public computers, and a computer lab facilitate access to the large collection of electronic resources. The Law Library also seeks to provide a peaceful, comfortable environment for research, study, and intellectual engagement. The lower floor is reserved as a quiet space, while five group-study rooms allow students to engage in collaborative learning. The Library’s collection of framed, brush-stroke reproduction images of California Impressionist paintings, a generous loan from The Irvine Museum, enhances the natural setting of the space and ties the Law School firmly to the Southern California tradition.
