What type of notebook/laptop should I purchase for use at the UC Irvine School of Law?
Although the Information Technology Services department does not officially endorse any particular brand or model, we have a minimum requirement specification list that may assist you in purchasing a notebook/laptop. For further information, please visit our Notebook Requirements for Law School web page. However, we strongly recommend that you purchase a three-year warranty with your notebook purchase.
Can I use an Apple notebook at the Law School?
Due to the advancements in the Law School's exam-taking software, Examsoft, Apple Macintoshes can also be used to take exams using the Examsoft application. Furthermore, browsing the web and printing is also available for Apple Macintosh users.
Are there any discounts on purchasing Microsoft Windows or Office 2007 as a UC Irvine law student?
Yes. As a member of the UCI Law community, you are entitled to purchase Microsoft products at a significant discount, compared to purchasing software at the standard retail price. Please visit http://ucirvine.onthehub.com for more information.
Will there be wireless capability in the UC Irvine Law Library?
As with the rest of the UC Irvine campus, wireless will be available in all areas of the Library, Law classrooms and all surrounding areas, including the courtyard and lunch areas. However, in order to take advantage of the wireless signals, you must register your laptop using the campus UCInet Mobile Access found at http://www.nacs.uci.edu/ucinet/mobile/. Please note that your main campus UCInetID is required for registration.
