Christina Tsou
Research Law Librarian for Faculty Services

What excites you most about joining the UCI Law School?
Joining UCI Law has been a homecoming of sorts for me. I grew up in Irvine and attended high school down the street from UCI. Having heard about a law school coming to Irvine for such a long time makes me all the more excited to be part of this new and growing law school! I find the faculty here truly exceptional and the students top-rate. Their dedication to teaching and learning is very inspiring and I feel very lucky to be able to work with the faculty and students here and to be part of this innovative law school.

What inspired you to go into librarianship?
I came to the field of law from a science and health background, so it was no surprise that legal research was my favorite aspect of the law, both in school and in practice. As a practicing attorney, I witnessed on more than one occasion how imperative research could be to a case. More often than not, a judge makes his or her decision based on the legal arguments that are presented in the written briefs. Librarianship gives me the opportunity to not only capitalize on my skill set but to also continuously learn and grow intellectually.

What would you like to accomplish during the first years at UCI Law?
I would like to create a proactive and collaborative partnership with the faculty so that their research and scholarship needs are met with stellar library services. I also would like to create a collegial environment with the students, through class, reference interactions, or other instructional initiatives, so that I can play a role in preparing the students to become outstanding contributors to the legal community.
