Before retiring in August 2013, Crystal Sims worked 38 years at Legal Aid Society of Orange County, starting as a staff attorney and eventually serving as Director of Litigation and Training for the past 28 years. During her time at LASOC, she was involved with representing over 20,000 clients who otherwise would not have been able to afford legal help.
As a legal education and social services trainer, Sims has taught at community workshops on a variety of topics, from deposition skills to representation of residential landlords and tenants and application of Fair Housing laws.
She has served on numerous task forces and organizational boards, including the Board of Directors of Orange County Community Housing Corp., the Board of Directors of Affordable Housing Projects of Orange County, Inc., the Orange County Superior Court's Task Force on Self-Represented Litigants and its Task Force on Community Courts.
Sims is a graduate of University of San Diego School of Law; University of Pennsylvania, where she received an M.A. in History; and Stanford University, where she received an A.B. in History.
