Thomas Malcolm

Lecturer

Principal, Jones Day (Ret.)

Background:

Thomas Malcolm has tried over 100 complex business trials and practices in every area of business litigation: commercial disputes, fraud, real estate, tax, unfair competition, wrongful termination, labor, management, insurance, construction, toxic tort, and legal malpractice.

His preparation for hearings is legendary, and he has an uncanny ability to identify significant turning point issues. He maintains a healthy sense of humor and compassion, but perhaps his most endearing quality is his ability to treat every person with the utmost dignity and respect. Mr. Malcolm has been a J.D.R. neutral since 2002 and remains one of the most requested and respected neutrals in the legal profession.

Over the years, Malcolm also has headed several local bar groups and advised presidents and governors on judicial candidates in the area. Malcolm was the president of the Orange County Bar Association in 1992 and the Federal Bar Association in 2001 and 2002. He was listed as on the American Bar Association’s Best Lawyers in America list and was named one of the top 100 lawyers in America by the Daily Journal in 2005.
