Newly Admitted Students

Congratulations on being admitted to the University of California, Irvine School of Law.

The following lists detail the steps you must take to be officially registered as a graduate student. The monthly checklists help you schedule the tasks and plan ahead.

General checklist

• Complete the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) by the April 15 deadline.
• Activate your UCINetID.
  Select "Faculty, Staff or Student" from the Activate page – do not select "Student Applications." It will take about a week for your SIR to be received and processed before you have access to this site. You will receive an email telling you your access info.
• Complete and submit the Statement of Legal Residence.
  Law students use their UC Irvine Student ID Number for both the Student ID and the Application ID.
  Need more info? Visit UCI's Office of the Registrar.
• Visit the Housing Office web site.
• Complete and submit the Graduate Student Housing Application.
• Complete and submit the Financial Support Application (FAFSA).
  Foreign students do not need to complete the FAFSA.
• International Students who need an F-1 or J-1 Visa should complete the CIAQ financial verification form and submit to the Admission Office at the Law School
• Enroll in the course placeholder (course info will be sent via email). The placeholder course is set up as a 10-unit course.
• Pay fees - please review your account to ensure that your fees and other charges are paid.
• Learn about Graduate Student Health Insurance.
  Be sure to look at the semester information for Law students when it appears in late spring.
• Access your UCI student account and change your contact info (address, email) as soon as you can.
• Once you arrive on campus, get your Student ID card.
• International students must report to the International Center.
