Introduction to Korea’s Criminal Procedure and Sentencing Guidelines

As part of our Visiting Scholars Talk series, three judges from Korea introduced Korea’s criminal procedure, especially focusing on sentencing guidelines. They provided a brief overview of the organization of Korea’s courts and criminal proceedings. Next, they talked about the Sentencing Guidelines that were established in 2009 as well as the guidelines’ overarching goal of realizing fair and objective sentencing that reflects the sound and common sense principles of the public.
