The UCI Technology and Entrepreneurship Achievement Competition challenged interdisciplinary teams of graduate students from the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, Henry Samueli School of Engineering, Paul Merage School of Business, and UCI School of Law to structure and negotiate a joint development agreement for a new and exciting technology.

The 2015 competition, co-sponsored by Broadcom, was held on February 28, 2015. Students had five (intense!) hours to negotiate a joint development agreement between two corporations (Stratosphere and EMI) for a new and exciting 3-D printer technology, and then write up the terms of the agreement. The problem was designed to give each team member an important role in structuring the deal. The law students, for example, were responsible for resolving legal issues connected to intellectual property rights, indemnification, representations and warranties, and confidentiality.
