The UCI Technology & Entrepreneurship Competition challenges interdisciplinary teams of graduate students from across UC Irvine to structure and negotiate a joint development agreement for a new and exciting technology.

The participants develop practical negotiation and transactional skills, collaborate on interdisciplinary teams, gain exposure to corporate issues, and learn best practices from a distinguished panel of professionals. The teams are judged and awarded based upon the effectiveness of their business strategy, negotiation skills, understanding of the issues, overall professional demeanor, and the terms of the final agreement.

Who Can Participate?

Second- and third-year UCI Law students can participate in the competition.

Current Competition

The 2018 compeition will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at The Cove.

Past Competitions

Successful participation in the intra-school competition as a second-year student is a pre-requisite for eligibility to compete in external competitions. External competitions are limited to third-year students. Click here for additional information on UCI Law’s policies on external competitions, and to access an application form.

After careful reflection, the Law School has decided that there will be no competitions involving first-year law students. The first year of law school has enough pressures without adding competitions and there are ample opportunities for students to participate in Moot Court, Mock Trial and Negotiations/Transactional competitions in their second and third years.
